My donations used to go to St. Judes, Salvation Army and a local children's home. St. Judes became the beneficiary from when I received the "Let's Talk About Racism" pamphlets from the local branch of the Salvation Army when I volunteered to ring the bell a few years back, telling me to apologize for my whiteness. They were adamant that it was important documentation to consume before my volunteering. They have posted responses "clarifying" their position, but I know what I read.
Since then they've lost out on several thousands of dollars of donations from me, I haven't volunteered as I did annually and the local organization has actually called me to ask me why they didn't get my donation the last couple years and when I explained why I moved on from them, they straight up called me a bigot. All of that money has happily moved to St. Judes.

I’ve been giving since 2000. It’s the only charity I give to regularly.

My son is a former STJ patient.
Diagnosed in 2007… cured 18mos later….turns 23 in two months
STJ was incredible. Everything was superp and their staff are amazing.

I lead a non-profit organization that will surpass 1 million dollars donated to St Jude since 2020 in the next few months. Its an honor and a privilege to do so. We cant stop and wont until no child dies from cancer.

If you have kids, or even if you don't, you should take a visit. My daughter was treated there at 3yrs old.... now she's 17. She part of their St. Jude for life program.
It's a humbling trip IMO.

but thanks to treatments invented at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, its survival rate has increased from 4% when St. Jude opened in 1962 to 94% today.
That’s absolutely amazing and outstanding at the same time. I remember a kid in my class was diagnosed with leukemia in like 2nd or 3rd grade, so this would have been around 1977-1978. His name was Stanley. His dad owned a shoe store in our hometown. Seeing him at school, on the rare times when he could come, was awful. That kid went through hell. I can’t remember exactly when he died, but I think we were in our early teens. Just an awful disease.

St Jude has been superbly run since its founding including fundraising. It's success and the successes of other top research hospitals have led to an evolution in how the hospital accepts patients. Many cures/remissions are no longer experimental and are routinely offered at good regional hospitals. St Jude, which is actually a smaller hospital, keeps its focus on the cutting edge. So, unusual medical needs are required to be admitted.

Everyone in this behead has been "sold a bill of goods", in regards to St. Judges
Go research how the money is actually allocated

Please tell me how the money is actually allocated. I'd love to know. Pro tip, though, you better darn well know what the hell you are talking about. I can assure you I know. But I'm interested to know how the money is "actually" allocated and also interested in this "bill of goods" that people have been sold re: SJCRH.

St Judes is just about the only thing I donate to, and the only regular contribution. Those people are angels to deal with what they do every day.

Did not resd, but didn't need to. St. Jude is the only charity I will NEVER turn down a chance to donate to!
Amazing people doing God's work!

There are some legitimate criticisms that can be made.
They made employees get the shot, obviously they have the scientific chops to know it was bullshite.
They’re just as liberal with DEI and gender BS as any other large health care organization.
I could rattle off a dozen more, but I look at those things in context and they’re just a footnote to the good work done. Those items are really just a large org falling in line with the winds of politics at the time.
They do not however waste excessive amounts of donor funds on overhead and admin.

Nah, not really. Best qualified, at least on the admin side of things. Doctors and Researchers... couldn't give two rips about gender or any other DEI criterion. Nurse... dime a dozen and therefore they can afford to be quite choosy, especially considering UTCHS is right down the street.

I didn’t mean the DEI aspect as much in hiring as in the typical BS training and rah rah HR initiative stuff.
For medical staff it’s not hard for them to recruit, pay is good, benefits are excellent and workload is what I’d call “country club” particularly in areas like nursing where a lot of candidates are coming from overwhelmed critical care units that are massively understaffed and overworked. They aren’t operating a trauma center or a for-profit ICU. 5 years in one of those and nurses are thrilled to sign on somewhere like st Jude.

You can’t buy your way into heaven, but that C-note Danny Thomas slipped the maitre’d got him an awfully good table.
Fantastic hospital and organization, pray to God I’ll never need their help.

Gotcha. Well, that's true, to an extent. But, like you said earlier, mostly just corporate BS that all companies deal with. Kind of like "sensitivity training". Stupid and a waste of time... but you gotta do it.
