Slab on grade and the spigot line is in an insulated wall proving yet again LNCHBOX consistently has bad takes
Again, never once said don't protect your outside lines. You doing a bad job at that doesn't make me wrong

I'm going to again ask for an explanation of how opening the cabinet has any effect in any of this, but I get the feeling you're just the next condescending douche that will just ignore the question.
It's more about airflow. Opening the cabinet doors allows for more air to circulate unobstructed. You will have a more consistent flow of warmer air from the heating unit if the doors are open vs closed.
I am not saying it can save the pipes from freezing as I don't think it would make a significant difference since cabinets aren't airtight to begin with but I can see the logic.

This is the very definition of an old wives tale. Can y'all really not just admit that opening a cabinet inside your house is doing basically nothing?

Are you sure about that?

Slab or not, water lines in exterior walls will freeze.
You build houses without insulation?
My outside line is in an insulated wall and was protected. Just accept that your take was bad and don't backtrack now to try to save face.

I already said I don't think it makes a difference unless you have airtight cabinets.

Your line didn't freeze where it was insulated. It froze outside of the insulation. You can keep trying to spin it. I'm sure you'll get plenty upvotes.

Cool, my post was for all other braniacs in this thread acting like I was the idiot for having common sense

Let you kids know a trick:
Schedule your dishwasher to run at 3 AM.

Sho did. Also filled up pots to use to wash dishes.

I have never guessed that a thread about freezing pipes would be so entertaining.
Well, we can’t post doomcane model runs, so this weather thread has to be spicy about something

It was insulated inside and out and it was frozen into the wall. I got the outside unfrozen quickly but took a minute to get the part inside going.
I know what you are getting at that since it had outside exposure that is why the line froze but as someone pointed out yesterday, sometimes insulation doesn't get all around the lines so assuming just because you are in an insulated house on a slab that lines won't freeze is a bad take.
A line with no outside exposure can still freeze easily and dripping faucets can help prevent that

So you’re going 4 days (I’m assuming through Monday morning) without running water during Christmas weekend?

But by your own admission your insulated line didn't freeze. And let's not forget we are talking about for south Louisiana and the temps we get.
I would gladly concede the point if I had ever said don't protect you hose bibs, any exterior pipes, and supply line. But since I didn't, I'm not going to. I will concede to only talking about our region.

lostinbr provided you with that information. I assume you are just trolling now.
In the 2021 freeze, a line froze behind a bathroom sink adjacent to an exterior wall in my house. In the other areas of the house I had opened cabinet doors and had zero issues.
It’s not rocket science, the opened door allows warm air to circulate inside the cabinet where it otherwise would not have.

Well I have one spicket that froze up. The rest are fine and everything inside is fine. What’s the best action now?

Your previous post was pedantic so I felt the urge to point out that "cold" can not be transferred because it does not exist. The pipe is transferring heat (energy) from the area with more heat to the area with less heat.

Go to one of your spare bedrooms and close off all the heating vents. Close the door and come back in 4 hours and compare the temperature delta inside the room and in the hall. Then leave the door open for 4 hours and recheck the delta. This simple experiment will provide the insight you need to hopefully stop you fervently hanging on to a losing position.

If it doesn’t get above freezing for a day or two, probably a day or two.

That's not close to the same thing, but ok.
