went to Applebee's with a couple friends and had to take a shite after we ate. They called me and said to hurry cause they ran out. I get done and the waiter is waiting for me right by the bathrooms. Says they left so I have to cover everyone. Couple min of us arguing go by and he finally tells me they paid and gave a big tip for him to mess with me. So I pay and walk outside, look around and spot the truck and take off in a dead sprint. Hop in screaming for them to go. They were freaking out thinking they really got me

I've done it about 3 times. I got a free meal out of it and I wasn't interested in the girl anyways

No, but I once stole a bag of caramel popcorn from a concession stand at a UT football game. I grabbed the bag and stood there waiting to pay and the lady working the table was just staring off into space. I kept trying to make eye contact and get her attention but no luck. I finally just walked off. Had I not been drinking I would have just waited. This was like a privately owned stand set up off to the side.
I still feel kind of guilty about it. If I ever see her around, I'll hand her a $5 bill and walk away real fast without saying anything.

I've forgotten to pay a few bar tabs while drunk, but I've been a regular at all of them so they didn't care. Last time I did it they said I skipped out on accident, but since I was such a regular that they knew it was unintentional and on the house.

Dining and dashing in 1967 and in 2017 are not the same thing. Same with streaking. Same with panty raids. Dining and dashing was once a cultural phenomenon, and a rite of passage and now it's different.
Same for 1977. As I said in another post, Everyone I did it with had the money to pay on them. Back then we actually carried cash. I'd never heard of doing it until the frat guys said they were going to do it. These guys were doctors' and lawyers' kids that were educated at the finest Catholic Schools in NOLA. I was the "Charlie Simms" (Scent of a Woman-1992) of the group.
It was like getting in fights and lots of other things where you could have apologized, paid and no probably have no charges filed. The crazy thing about doing it at the Vagabond Grill in Monroe was that the same group of guys went back and did it again a couple of months later.
When I reached legal age, I realized it wasn't something I should be doing.

A buddy and I were shitfaced and ended up at the Huddle House one night at 2 am. He said he had the bill so I went to the pisser, when I got in the car he was laughing his arse off because we ran the bill.
Wasn't funny to me because my uncle owned the place and all the waitresses knew me, I had to go back in and pay.

Yeah, Tiger Time in Auburn in mid to late 90s. 3-4 of us, drunk & stupid.
It made The Plainsman. "Theft of Services $xx".
Doesn't bother me, but Not something I'd do again under normal circumstances.

I thought for a second I had no choice. Then I made a move. Jumped in the car like Luke duke and never looked back. It still haunts me.
You could have explained the situation to the waitress and manager, given them your info in exchange for them not calling the law, and returned the next day with the money. Then kicked your friends arse
