Pre-K teacher broke out the hot sauce for kids who wouldn't behave.
4th grade teacher had a large butterfly keychain. Butterfly was thick wood and she would smack you good if you were misbehaving.
Paddle was reserved for serious offenders but I don't remember anyone getting whacked. The threat was enough to stop most folks.

Spankings, one teacher would twist your ears. Suspension was fairly common too.
They got tired of spanking me, I had a semi permanent room near the principals office.

1st grade: stand in trash can or get frogged in the head by the teacher, she looked like a tiny female Hitler w/o the moustache, even had a German last name
2nd: Sister Margaret would take a ping pong paddle to your knuckles
3rd-4th: graduated from ping pong paddle to ruler to the knuckles
5th-6th: took privileges away first, called your parents second (which usually resulted in an arse whoopin').

My dad taught shop class back in the 70s and his classes manufactured these for the faculty (very similar in size to what you see on Dazed & Confused).
They made a special fiberglass version for the principal.

Had a teacher that used to break our fingers if we misspelled a word. If you happen to skip in the lunch line he'd make you eat until you vomit. There was this one time that a kid was late for homeroom and the teacher tied him up and threw rocks at him, but the worse was the Russian roulette that he did to us with his .44 Mag when we threw spit balls at him.

no doubt, the football coaches my Freshman year had a 3/4 inch wooden paddle with holes drilled in it and leather strings(fake leather like that's on moccasins) weaved through it.
If kicked out of class, you would catch a few to the arse.
If your bangs were out of code, same result.
