what are the stats on people that have been forced to get one of these devices as far as them not driving drunk and those that still do?

I like the idea but it would Never happen. Sadly too many guys want to "unwind" after work, get a buzz, then have one or two more and drive home drunk as they endanger everyone else around them.

Are you talking about after they are allowed to get it out or while it's still in the car? I know that if its in the car and if you have alcohol on your breath it won't start.
I think in one of my pre-trial classes they said it's like 1:4 people that get a DWI get another one.

The vast majority of drivers are not driving drunk. In fact, even those with DUIs probably spend more time driving sober.
So under your proposal, the majority of the law-abiding citizens will be subjected to government intrusion, a financial cost, and a constant inconvenience. Worse yet, they are essentially forced to prove their innocence to do an essential life activity.
AND if they tamper with this unnecessary inconvenience, the penalty will be worse than the actual (infrequent) dangerous behavior this statist proposal is based upon?
While driving drunk is inexplicably stupid, actually thinking that your proposal has merit is even worse.

Dude, idk. I don't know how that would work out. Of course all this shite is hypothetical. But if everyone had it would that not force the prices to go down?
