Spinoff: Do you Think Everybody Should Have an Interlock Device?

I think everybody that has a car should have an interlock. It would literally almost completely whipe out drunk driving deaths/injuries.
The only thing is law makers would never allow it because it brings the government so much money.
Tell me why it would be a bad idea/couldn't happen.
Eta: let me clarify, I'm not saying that it couldn't start even if you blew under .08 BAC. If you blew .08 or over, your car wouldn't start until you blew under.

I'd rather something to block cellphone/texting/browsing
I think it's more dangerous than drunk driving

Or, you know, like people would never let it happen.

Also, I'm sure the insurance companies would hate it as well.
Insurance companies would love it.

Outlaw driving all-together. 40,000 americans die every year in automobile accidents and most are the result of sober drivers.
Put down the money for automated cars, extensive rail networks, and professional drivers and you'd easily save 80% of those lives. That's 32,000 people you'd save by doing that. Think of the children!

Maybe everyone should just wear a bodycam so we can solve all crimes.

You're right, I have no clue what I was thinking right there. Got sidetracked by the baseball game.

No.
Also, for those of you that don't know, you don't just blow and go. The things go off randomly while you drive and you have to blow again.

I don't appreciate you trying to take money out of my pocket and give it taxis or Uber drivers.

Wouldn't work, when I was younger and used to change oil we could start customers interlocks with the shop compressors. It's not hard at all to fool them.
Plus, what if say you're drunk as frick at your own house in your driveway and just need to move your car into the garage or something? You blow into that shite over the limit and get arrested?

Oh, I know. Got one in the car right now. After five minutes once I start the car then once like every 30 mins-hour. Wish I'd have had it in my car when I thought it was a great idea to drive under the influence. Thankfully, I didn't hurt anyone or myself.

You willingly gave somebody money to buy alcohol; why not willingly give somebody money to get you home safely?

Because I don't need to pay someone to drive two blocks because I stopped to quench my parched throat after working my arse off in the damn heat all day.

I'm not saying after a drink. I'm saying if you blow over .08 BAC then your car wouldn't start. shite, two blocks is close enough to walk.

So if I stop in after a hard days work and have a few beers to unwind, I should have to leave my car behind?
And I'm pretty sure the interlocks don't allow any alcohol, not just over .08. (A stupid number by the way)

No they don't. If I have a trace of alcohol on my breath with mine it won't start.
But I'm sure the companies that produce the interlock could make a change on the device. Especially if everybody was going to get one.
As for the .08 BAC being a stupid number, I can't comment on that. I don't know enough about how that stuff works to say anything about that.
