I live comfortably, take vacations, love my staff, like my clients. I'm not an OT baller, I only drive an F-150, but I don't hate myself. I work at a small firm and while I work steadily 50-60 hours a week I have a lot of freedom to control my own schedule.

Are y'all as miserable as the stories, or are there other happy lawyers like me?

In the same line of work as you. Generally happy. Deal with the same issues as anyone else dealing with the public. Life could be a whole lot worse, like working in a plant.

I guess with enough Prozac and vodka, even a leach can find happiness. Kudos to you, but an even bigger kudos to our pharmaceutical and liquor industries for making this modern miracle possible.

I wish I could say you were wrong, but maybe that has something to do with it.

You work about 780 more hours a year more than me. Think about that. You still happy?

Yeah, I've said it in some other threads. I know a patent guy who has it pretty well. Other than that, unless you're an ambulance chaser who can take a few months off after a big settlement or someone with a really cushy in-house gig (that is like the white whale of the profession) it's mostly misery out there.

Yes? No?

See my comments in threads about wives, I probably have more peace when I'm at work.

Eh. It has its ups and downs like all jobs. Very few people actually like what they do. I acknowledge that being a lawyer, objectively, isn't really as bad as people make it out to be. I also just generally don't like it. But that's my own problem.

Your a dick... and all lawyers are overpaid. True story...I hired a lawyer here in BTR, put down a retainer fee of $3k, only used about $1500. Since middle of Feb I have been trying to collect on my balance. When this lawyer does respond to my emails or ph calls its always blah, blah waiting on the clerk, my paralegal, been busy.....mother f&ck that.

Sounds like it's your fault for being trashy enough to need a lawyer on a $3,000 retainer to begin with. Caught a charge or married the wrong girl... Which one?

I'm loving it now that I'm the boss. I'm making myself rich instead of somebody else. It's pretty awesome tbh

Bunk, you seem like you'd be unhappy doing almost anything.

Do y'all even read this shite before you ask questions? It was the first question asked.
