Again, what don't you get? Grandma=there for a much longer portion of your lifetime, blood, human. Dog=there for less than a quarter of your lifetime, pet, animal, "best friend".

I've been through it, it always hurts for a few days, maybe a couple of weeks, but close family or friends passing hurts for months and years.
Not the same, though you are pretty heartless if your dog dying doesn't upset you.

Dogs are companions to many folks. In fact, some people develop stronger bonds with their dog than they do other people. I feel sorry for people who can't understand that depth of emotion.

its because they become our friends.
I lost my grandfather, who was like a father to me and my dog in the span of 2 months. the dog was harder for me than my grandfather. Granted I had been preparing myself for my grandfather passing for several years.

I said I'm sure I would be sad but not hold it in the same light as family (humans) dying. Some folks go overboard with it and hold it in the same light as family (human) death.

You're not really asking out of some sense of curiosity so how about we get to the point of this thread, since you have assured us this isn't a troll.
If you honestly don't "get it", even if you don't necessarily agree with it, time to turn off the computer and spend a few days interacting with real people in the real world and get cured from the low grade Asperger's that too much time in the Internet tends to cause.

Cats have been more involved with the evolution but I don't see near as much attention given to the death of a cat, who in fact lives longer.
