Made a reservation to rent a Uhaul to help my daughter move. When I went to pick it up, they only had a large van. WTF.

I'm planning to move to a new state on August 1st. Rented a Uhaul truck for the weekend on July 10th. Wayyy in advance.
Called to verify my truck 48 hours in advance, and the woman told me a truck wasn't assigned to me and very unlikely I'd have one, the 'reservation' was just for the price, which was high as frick btw, $480.
I was livid. I was becoming frantic because I have to make this move this weekend. Called Penske and they gaurenteed me a truck, but it was $990, complete price gouging off my last minute situation. I reserved it.
Uhaul called back at 4:45 yesterday to say the truck had been returned and it was ready if I still wanted it. Hesitantly, I accepted because $500 is $500.
She said she couldn't promise me earlier that day because the truck was supposed to be returned Wednesday but the renter didn't return it on time. I'm going pick the truck up at 8:00 so we'll see. If not, I have the backup with Penske and they said they wouldn't charge me until pick up.
I have to have a truck TODAY. I guess we'll see. I'm glad I didn't cuss out the Uhaul lady because that would have done no good and she wouldn't have called me back to say the truck was returned and ready for me because they overbook on purpose for busy weekends in case people don't pick them up and apparently, the first week of August is the busiest weekend of the month for moving.

While driving on the interstate, some dumbass in front of me ran over a tire which then shot back and nicked my front bumper in two spots. It's not bad enough to warrant getting the bumper replaced right away, but this car is less than a year old and I've been trying to keep it nice.

Drug dogs at the heliport. After six days in quarantine and two covid tests you would think they would just let a guy go to work. Waste of good bird dogs. And the guy that runs this operation in 5'6" and 250 pounds. Wears BDU pants with a collared shirt tucked in. If a button pops off that size large shirt he's wearing someone is losing an eye. They think they're some real bad arses.

Similar thing happened to me. Truck in front of me threw a rock and cracked the windshield on my 3 month old car. Thank God it's down in a corner out of my line of sight and it's never spread. But I was seriously pissed when it happened.

My kid had some tests one Thursday morning.
Called back Friday AM to see what the results were and was told that they wouldn't be available until Monday.
We had to wait all fricking weekend to know the results of tests that were really important to us.
Infuriating.

I’m building 2 houses right now and got the permit for one last Tuesday so I called the pile driver to come out and drive piles.
I spoke with the head of the permit department Thursday and he said everything was good they were just waiting for a signature from a zoning board member who was on vacation but I should expect the permit Monday morning.
So I went ahead and drove piles on both homes Friday and over the weekend.
Yesterday I got a call that one house has to move 2-1/2 feet over due to it being a corner lot.
It’s not a corner lot. There’s a 50’ green space between the lot and the street. Have to go in front of the development board to get a 2-1/2’ variance. I was on schedule to pour the slab this upcoming Monday.
Development board doesn’t meet until September 22. Have one last Hail Mary effort and if it doesn’t work today there will be hell to pay.
