Spring lake was never old money. Some parts of that neighborhood are stating to look pretty shabby.

For the record, I spent the first 7 years of my life living in Cedar Grove (off Linwood, near Woodlawn HS)

I lived in Shreveport back in the early 90s and Cedar Grove was straight up ghetto even back then.

Google shreveport riots early 90s

Holy frick. Motherfricking tanks marching down line ave. And yall fools think north baton is bad.

That being said, I49 was the best thing to ever happen to shreveport. Southhighlands, among other areas, has been preserved from all that nagging crime issue.

West of 49 sucks, east of 49 doesn't. It's pretty well known up here. Shreveport is a fine city to live in as long as you don't go to the dangerous parts of town (just like anywhere)

Happened or is happening in plenty of cities in the South. There are areas in BR that were decent in the 80s that I'd be somewhat hesitant to drive through during the daytime now.

South Highlands is not damn war zone. I feel like most people on this site have never been to Shreveport. It’s just cool to pick on it I guess. The city has its flaws, but give me Shreveport over BR or NOLA ANY day.

so much hyperbole

99% of the crime in SH and Broadmoor are people leaving their cars unlocked and teenagers go through their car

Is it annoying? Absolutely. Is it a "war zone"? no

We have some family friends that live on Elmdale, it was a really nice neighborhood when we were kids, is it still a decent place to live?

Southern Hills. Not really a dangerous spot, it just looks like you step through a forcefield and land in the early 90's over there. Lots of Keithville trash bleed-over too.

My dad used to leave me in the car, at night, listening to AM radio while he went in to Sleepy's for a drink or two (or four). That was on Hollywood, near Hearne. I don't think that would be prudent today.
