Sorry tween. Meant to up vote but down voted by mistake.
It is nice to catch a break. $100 shoes in Louisiana = $9.00 sales tax. That's lunch!

Right, and I hate using the term "fair share" because it sounds fricking terrible but we all know they are skating around the taxes. Business owners do it too. I'm not saying we should do it but you should at least look at it as a viable option.

Internet works if you buy a product that's not available in Louisiana, otherwise it's 9%.

Boston is a beautiful city. If you get the chance to visit do it. And Salem, loved the history there too. Salem is a very charming little town.

Low consumption taxes coupled with high income and property taxes is just another form of welfare.

My husband buys on Amazon so don't know about that. Most of my experience is with QVC and Ebay. Almost always get taxed on QVC items and sometimes on Ebay items.

This guy gets it. A straight consumption tax is what we need. Penalizes the spenders and reward the savers. Of course, it would take a total redesign of not only the tax system, but the American way of thinking.

if all of our state tax was derived from sales tax, it would put everyone on a more equal footing, IMO
Amazon says thank you.

Amazon has been charging me sales tax for at least a year.

It will never happen, but theoretically it is the tax system that makes the most sense.

Forcing Amazon and other online retailers to charge a sales tax could easily be part of any tax reform. Sales tax from internet purchases is only a matter of time anyways.
They only received a 5 year sales tax exemption (if I remember correctly) in SC when they built the distribution warehouse.
It is very hard to convince me to support a continuation of the income tax.

Sales tax in Boston is 6.25%. I was floored when I bought a few articles of clothing and discovered there was no sales tax on clothing. The same applied to shoes I bought. I did a look up and discovered there is also no sales tax on groceries and many, many other items. Any Bostonians on the board?
It was a tax free weekend

Not that I would know anything about this, but you should be claiming that on your taxes and paying a consumer use tax.

Not that it has anything to do with the company in question, but if a company has a presence in the state, a sales person/warehouse/store, they are required to register with the state and collect sales tax on taxable transactions.
