Very true.
If it is within the range of tires allowable by the manufacturer then the dealership will do it for free.
For instance, the dealership will reprogram for a Jeep up to 33" tires.

the one I had for my 16 was married to the truck. Once you use it on the truck it's linked to that truck unless you go back to stock and unmarry the device.

What's the deal with the OT and keeping stock rims and tires? Nothing wrong with making your vehicle look better.

never mind I see that it's a later model F150.
Those are programmable from the factory, no problem, just go to a Ford dealer (or any independent shop that has a J2354 programming interface) and they can reprogram the ECM for whatever size tire you have put on it, which will correct the speedometer.
Not like the older trucks that had speedometer cables that you could just replace the gears with a different size gear that corresponded with your tire size.

There's no reason to spend that kinda money. A dealer should charge you 1/2 - 1 hr labor to reprogram the ECM. A private shop is probably going to charge more, my dad's shop has the equipment to do this, It's a $1500 device that can interface with the vehicle and the manufacturers website via a PC. and everytime they use it they have to rent access to the manufacturer's website, costs anywhere from $10-60 a day depending on the manufacturer , except Hyundai which is free. And not all manufacturers allow for tire size to be reprogrammed either.
