If this is your logic, I'm proud to say I don't share it.

Feel free to claim you've won now. This is officially boring.

You're right...but back to the point about how the road is classified...it can't be an interstate if it's classified as a collector road in the plans.

Well if it was 40 and they switched it cause residents bitched, I am not really cool about that. 40 is better than 35.

There are only a handful of houses actually on staring... Most are on side streets.

Baton Rouge Department of Public Works’ Chief Traffic Engineer Ingolf Partenheimer said the 40 mph speed limit was a compromise. He said DPW determined the speed limit could have safely been higher, as high as 50, but compromised to 40 in the wake of criticism.

“I don’t begrudge him wanting him to make 35,” Partenheimer said of Delgado. “I just don’t believe he’ll attain the goal that he wants, which is a major reduction in accidents.

Delgado said of the claim of increased risk, “I think that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.”

Yeah, I drive down Staring multiple times every day. I've only seen people walking on the side of the street a few times, and they weren't being harassed.

it's all jackassery.
Seriously. The homes in the link i posted face Old Hammond HWY. and are no farther than the ones on Staring or Bluebonnet.
Yet there's a descrepency in the speed limits of 10-20mph.
Something is not right.

Check this out.

Old Hammond is a major arterial for the city. Staring Lane is not. Staring was widened because it needed the upped capacity to handle the demand, and the design speed is 45 MPH in case the need arises for it to be posted higher than it currently is posted at 35 MPH. Staring Lane could be upgraded to a major arterial once it's extended to LA 30.

Between the speed limit signs, wrong way, and do not enter signs, there's got to be a couple thousand dollars out there.

There are about 100+ signs in a 1 mile stretch.

I think Delgado is making himself out to look like an idiot, but Staring did need to decrease the speed limit since the cops never enforced the 40 MPH speed limit.

But instead, they both lower it to 35 and are writing tickets. The speed limit would have been fine at 40 had people obeyed the limit or it was enforced.

I would be driving down that stretch before the change and would routinely get passed like I was standing still, going 55 mph in a 40 is not safe, especially with cars turning onto Staring with no center lane.

To be completely honest, I caught myself "going with the flow" at 60mph on Staring the other day.

Oops.

I tried going 35 this morning on my way to work and had people driving up my arse. I'd like to kick Delgado and all those whining homeowners in the nuts.
