Actually you just said an Indian guy helped the company save 400k but gave no details on how him being Indian helped in the situation at all.

It sounds more like a proper bidding war saved the business money. Not necessarily the color of the guys skin. Your example isn’t based on diversity, rather proper business methods.

Never said it was.

Just like I can't prove that him being the one to come forward with the solution was because of his background, you can't say it didn't.

Like I said earlier in this thread, I think diversity of background is important when dealing with problems, as it often will create diversity of thought.

specific examples of diversity contributing to corporate earnings
In 1947 the all-white St Louis Cardinals Baseball franchise sold for $3.5 million. Adjusted for inflation, that's around $29 million in 2020.

The estimated present-day value of the integrated franchise is around $2 billion smackaroos.

Almost everyone agrees with this, just wondering if there is real scientific data to prove it? From what you have said it seems like the engineer was hired because he had the right thought on his own and presented it. Not to collaborate diverse thoughts.

Probably hired Bc he/she was less expensive

If diversity is the reason than the answer would be yes. The point is that different thoughts is good, but the most important aspect is that the people presenting and executing thoughts have the necessary expertise and experience. Diversity for diversity sake doesn’t help the business. It’s the actual ideas and abilities of those who make up the diversity that matter.

My company doesn't want diversity of thought. They only care about diversity of appearance.

This is evident in any diversity data presented and it only lists gender/race/ethnicity.

Incidentally, the numbers they present are raw data and don't actually tell you anything.

That's dumb and in no way what I have implied in this thread.

Never claimed it did.

Absolutely right.

My workplace consists of a HUGE range of jobs, skillsets, and experience. Our HR department ABSOLUTELY pushes diversity. I have heard personally from our hiring managers that highly qualified white males that they wanted to hire were kicked back by corporate in favor of ZERO experience black females. We also hire people at our site from all over the world, as well as many engineers from across the country. I would say that maybe 20% of our engineers are local LSU grads.

That being said, these "diverse" hires have a very small success rate. Those from other parts of the country/world end up getting a job close to home and leaving the company entirely.

The local hires--all in it for the long haul at 20+ years and highly experienced and knowledgeable of the site specific operations. The diversity in the workplace argument is a joke.

I agree with this completely. But I can guarantee you, there is absolutely NO diversity officer charged with ensuring diversity of thought. They are charged with hiring to ensure diversity of appearance.

My company is one of the most diverse in our industry. We are also one of the top producing companies based our size.

Company culture is more important than diversity. It should be one part of the culture.

You think skin color determines how someone thinks? That’s the definition of racism.
