As a grown man, should I be excited about the:
crowds?
floats?
beads?
masked riders?

yeah I honestly wouldn't give a damn if there were not a single float and it was just an outdoor party in downtown BR...its a good time

They mean nothing to me. I'm not originally from Baton Rouge or New Orleans and dislike Mardi Gras in general. So, my perspective is pretty objective.

Tell me as an adult hetero male, why would you have more fun at Endymion over ST?

Sounds pretty subjective and biased to me

OP,
Getting back to the point of your post:

Parking: Get off at the Capitol Access road exit on I-110. Follow it around to a field that provides easy parking.

Where to watch. Any spot you can find along Spanish Town Rd. I recommend this for first timers because you get what seems to be an authentic look at what a local Mardi Gras celebration is all about.

Be prepared for raunchiness... ST floats will have plenty of inuendo and crudeness. If you are offended by poorly photoshopped images of Hillary Clinton doing a devil's threeway with Master P and Chingy then you need to hit up the Southdowns parade instead.

ST is a great time. I love it

Thanks for the insight.

Looks like I'll definitely be targeting Spanish Town Rd area for a spot.

I am looking forward to it.

people who live in NOLA will never say a parade is good outside NOLA

From BR and live in NOLA now. Spanish Town is a great parade and is an awesome time, period. But, it doesn't compare to NOLA parades and it isn't trying to either. It is by far the best BR parade. It is a blast.

Endymion is shite unless you are at the Extravaganza.

I go every year and love it. We park on Lafayette St. towards the end. You have to park your vehicle a good bit ahead of time to get a spot though, as in Thursday or Friday (get off my lawn). I've done both New Orleans mardi gras and ST and ST is way better. ST can get pretty raunchy though.

Same reason LSU football is more fun than UL-LA and Tulane football

Serious question, I was going to bring my 10 and 11 year old niece and nephew, not a good idea?

Is ST the only Mardi Gras parade in BR or are there other ones?
