It's called Neighbor Spoofing and I get them too. Annoying as hell.

Yep. Get them fairly often. Got one earlier today.
Had a guy call me a few weeks ago saying I called him, so I assumed someone spoofed my number.

I have a fairly unique number and have repeatedly gotten a call that is one digit off from mine. Called it back once and it was an old lady who had no idea who had called me. Number spoofing/proxy. Not much you can do about it.

This is a plague on me right now. It was almost daily for a while

Wait until you get a call from your own number.
This has happened twice to me while I was working and I missed both. I was at first confused, then worried that if I answered; some crazy paradox would happen and we'd all be erased. Kind of like the first asshat that figures out how to divide by zero...

Got one of these about an hour ago. It was the credit card one. I seem to get the car insurance one most of the time. Of course it was the same area code and first 3 digits of my number.

This is one of the great things about America. We get whipped up in a frickING FUROR about making a cake for a gay couple or some other stupid shite - but an actual nuisance like this - no state, local or federal government to be heard from.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, BROWNIE.

If the same # calls 2 times with no message left...block the #.

Try this site: LINK it has saved me from any calls not having a legitimate identifier... phone rings once and disconnects if it can't be recognized...

Same here George, 90% of my spam calls are from the 225 area code

I've done that before. Half the time you can't even get through to anybody-it just hangs up when you press 1, or rings with no answer. Like if you wanted to buy their bs you couldn't even be able to
That's the most annoying. I used to waste their time, but now I can't get a live person.
Why even do it if you aren't going to talk to the person and get their credit card/bank info?

I get them too. I've just settled with the policy that if someone really wants to talk to me/wants me to call back they'll leave a voicemail.

This is what I do as well. No voicemail, no care.

I get the area code and first 3 are always the same. I block it, and another one fricking calls. It's crazy. If I hit ignore rt away, they call back on the same number within seconds.
