Cars already lined up to go back to the launch pad and start surveying the situation on the ground
Looking like SpaceX may be ready to call it... lost S28 during reentry

dont think so, just loss signal. Waiting about 10 mins to see
Why can't they just use the helicopter that apparently is flying alongside it to keep showing video?

And... SpaceX officially triggers a mishap investigation
Massively successful day and maybe it'll take even less time before IFT-4

Road along Starbase is open and workers are heading back to the launch pad for assessment

Thanks for the thread rt3.
That was a fun one to watch.

S29 already did a spin prime test
They can get that back on the suborbital pad real quick for the static fire and then B11 onto the OLM for its tests

Yeah I think the only bad part about losing the ship is now they will investigate which will delay the next launch

Since they met most of the test goals and the mishaps were down range I’d bet it will be an accelerated process to get another license.
SpaceX just needs to view the data and revamp their code. I don’t think there’s any major structural re-designs at this point. There’s a few V1 stacks left to go before the 2nd generation is ready.

Any ideas on why the aborted the relight?

Had to be some kind of issue... not sure if it was the inability to stop the spin or issues getting fuel to the engines

Tim on Everyday Astronaut suggested it might have been the gas thrusters not working on reentry. It appeared Starship was in a bit of a spin on reentry and the fins can’t correct that on their own. If that’s the case it’s not a major issue.

Tremendous success. This was a huge day for Starship.
Can’t wait to hear the mainstream media say it was a failure because after clearing all hurdles and totally exceeding any and all expectations, it was lost in reentry.

My point is that they'll do as much as possible to paint it like it was a failure.

Born too late to explore the New World, born too early to explore the moons of Jupiter. Perhaps my grandchildren will get to colonize the solar system.
