There was a private flight taken 2 weeks ago from Lafayette to Brownsville. Political figure heads from south Louisiana and other state officials were on this plane. They toured the space x facility there. Alot of talk was about adding a bridge over the intercostal canal south of Gueydan where hwy 91 ends, and putting a suspended highway either directly through white lake(roughly 16 miles) or cut west between white lake and grand lake(roughly 13 miles). This would be massive for not only west Vermilion but also east Jeff Davis.

Well, the edge of the shelf is a long damn way from the Freshwater Bayou locks.

Louisiana has true economic momentum for first time since the late 1970s oil boom

You dont think that consideration was taken when setting up near Brownsville?
Far more hurricanes hit Vermilion and Cameron Parish than Brownsville Tx

That’s not correct, in the last 100 years Vermilion got 12, Brownsville had 18

The infrastructure built to withstand a rocket launch is probably going to be okay in a hurricane.
I love how a bunch of guys on the internet have convinced themselves that they've thought of something that Elon and the SpaceX team completely overlooked.

Are you sure that’s who was on the plane?

How many in the last 30 years?
Posted on 8/20/26 at 11:16 am to Double Oh
The last direct hit was Barry it was weakening Cat 1 and the only other one was Hurricane Lili in early 2000. Rita, Laura, Delta were more of a Cameron Parish direct hit. Vermilion Parish has actually been spared for the most part the last 30 years. I’m confident they will build the infrastructure plenty strong enough for the next hurricane that comes through.

Yes they’re building a city.
About 5,000 residents to start off.
Will need a mayor and everything.
Elon was down last week looking around.
This is the plan for now anyway.
How do I know?
I know the people that he’s contacting about land down there

They obviously know more than the guys launching rockets into space. Hell, their voting record shows that!
