I normally book all of my flights wayyyy in advance and get the best pricing

Not always possible for business travel. Last week when I had to book my trip to SFO, Southwest was more expensive than every main line carrier. This is actually more and more common as Southwest increases their prices.

And again, no upgrades, no assigned seats, no service to Europe (and many US cities), and no in flight entertainment screen. It's also always on a cramped 737, which is my least favorite narrow body by far.

Southwest is not worth considering for me unless 1) it is the only non stop flight and 2) the flight is less than 120 minutes.

I'm claustrophobic and the only way I don't start feeling like I'm gonna panic while flying by myself....is if I sit in a window seat. It's a nonstop flight each way...so I'm not really worried about where on the plane I'm sitting(as in front or back of the plane)...but I have to have a window seat.

Most airlines have ways to get the perks SW offers these days. Whether through loyalty and status or credit cards that allow free checked bags, early boarding, picking your own seat, etc.

One thing you can do on other airlines that you'll never get on SW is the option to upgrade to business or first via status or mile accumulation.

Does SW have enhanced economy seating for more leg room? I assume they've hopped on the wifi, personal entertainment and outlets as well but I haven't flown them in years.

Quite the opposite. There's a reason there are people who say they like Southwest.

Being able to change flights without a fee is huge. I wanted to stay sn extra few days in Mexico last week but didn't because delta wanted a grand to change my flight to 3 days later

Most flights have free wifi. Greatest thing with SW is ability to change flights without getting bent over.

That's the only unique positive thing about SW, and it is certainly a big one. I've gotten around it on UA 2-3 times using multiple same day flight changes, but that's not always an option and is risky.

I do use the free same day changes a lot on UA for work. I'll book the cheapest flight available and then change to the one I want 24 hours before my flight. Only been burned once or twice with the better flight being unavailable.

I agree. There are much better airlines with vastly superior service.

Southwest is somehow perceived as the best among infrequent travelers. I suppose they either like or overlook the shortcomings of cattle call seating.

I think Southwest has a much smaller % of business travelers. They are trying to target that market more and more, but they are behind and it shows in the clientele.

If SW offers free wifi, that's a big plus as well. Didn't know that.

For last minute business travel I can understand it not being an attractive option. It works for me because I use it for leisure and stay within the U.S.

Hell no, I hate cats.

Honestly I'm really not high maintenance at all. I fly maybe 3-4 times a year. Pretty easy to just pick a window seat when I book my flight on non SW airlines. I don't whine to the flight attendants about it, I don't bother other passengers about it. I just sit in my window seat and either read or sleep. Because I hardly ever get up in a flight(years as a nurse...I have a very well trained bladder and can hold it for hours)...I'm the ideal window seat passenger.

Would you rather me or the person in a window seat that gets up 10 times during the flight?

Give me a break. We talking Cathay pacific or domestic like American or united?

You are clueless. if you are in a SW market they have more business travelers than any airline.

I've flown on SW, Delta and United. Southwest was no worse or better than the others.

Short flight SW sometimes has good deals.
I cannot complain about the lack of leg room as I get what I paid for.

Any flight over 2 hours I try to fly American first class. I have the money and I like the leg room.

Ive never had problems with SW. Probably fly them half the time.

And on flight booze is cheaper and like half the time they dont even charge me.

Seems to me a claustrophobic person would prefer a aisle seat? Good to hear on the cats.
