The good news is you can hit those slots for a bit and pay off your whole trip.

Everywhere that I have worked you are paid out unused vacation/PTO, but you are not usually paid out for unused sick time when you are terminated or resign.
This is common in a lot of companies, which is why many of them still separate sick time from vacation time, instead of the all-purpose "PTO" time.

So it's two issues?
1) Jax Center having "sickouts"
2) SWA having "sickouts"
The first issue should effect all airlines that fly through the area, right? Whereas the second one only impacts SWA.
So it seems like all airlines in the SE US should be having some issues, but SWA is much worse.
Also, why isn't SWA corporate calling out their pilots? Are they trying to avoid a bigger issue?

Might be a bargaining violation to do so.
If the union isn't officially or unofficially doing so, claiming they are might fall under intimidation.

So tonight there actually is some nasty weather in the Chicago area but not enough to cause all of those cancellations and delays.
Pet peeve of mine- 2 hour wait for an inbound flight that was delayed for maintenance, get on board only to have a thunderstorm show up. Posted reason for your flight delay- weather. Bitches

Our local news bimbo teased the 11 pm news with "The confusing reasons for travel delays". They will not acknowledge that the American public is not bowing down to Der Führer.

Abbott just signed an EO barring any business in Tex from requiring Vax… asked the legislature to make it a law this session too.

This will be an interesting showdown.
Who wins, government mandating companies to do something or government mandating companies can't do something. What a world we have moved to.
