It's right up there with their law school
JK they actually do put out some decent nurses
ETA: I am skeptical of this though
Just think about this the next time you have to go to the hospital, or a family member is in the hospital.

A lot of my family are in medicine, I'm fully aware some of the winners working in the field

Literally the worst nurses I know went to Southern

No way in hell. Their percentage of students passing the State Board exam is terrible.

The two best on Louisiana are LSU and Southeastern

Did they get like 20 points as a handicap? Something seems fishy. Smells like tuna up in here.

These orgs just rotate these designations around to the schools run by people they like. These rankings are always garbage.
Posted on 1/13/25 at 2:37 pm to CollegeFBRules
lol southern isn’t even the 4th best nursing school in the state
Posted on 1/13/25 at 2:37 pm to CollegeFBRules
Damn, they knocked off SLU and LSU?

I agree. I spent a few minutes on nurse.org and couldn't find that list. I did find that Southern was ranked as the #5 HBCU nursing program for 2025. HBCU List
I challenge anyone to find the list that is referred to in OP's post.

Southern is now above the national average for NCLEX passing, but it’s far behind LSU, Tech, and ULL
That’s just this state
McNeese State has a 98% NCLEX pass rate.

Just for one example
LSU have averaged 97% over the last decade for NCLEX first time pass rate
Southern for example
2023-68%
2022-79%
2021-82%
Rumor is Southern Shreveport is shutting down their nursing program. NCLEX pass rates. Meanwhile BPCC in Bossier had a 100% pass rate a few years ago.
I can't see a world where Southern has the best nursing program in the country. This is coming from someone who graduated from Southern

There’s at least 3 programs in Louisiana better than Southern.

Its not a bad school by any means its the media is insufferable, along with many other organizations in how they report stuff.

Since WAFB didn’t GAF enough about their own article to link the actual article from nurse.org, here it is.
Didn’t see any criteria for selection, but the site leads me to believe that it’s a small member base that just picked the schools they attended and voted on those.
TL;DR: see post by manwich two posts up.

I've had 2 nursing from Southern attend to me in serious situations. They had a little less knowledge than your average LPN.
