You can replace your sewer line anytime, you do not need DPW to replace theirs. Now that probably won't fix the problem, but you can get the work done when weather permits rather waiting on them.

The good news is out sewer user fee is going up about 4%. That's to pay for all the upgrades and repairs required by the Feds.

Why they waited so late to do older areas like Southdowns makes little sense. They worked newer areas much sooner.

Good luck.

man i have noticed that as well but in areas like Perkins and Pecue, around Southdowns in general.

I assumed it was from the chemical plants across the river

See my previous reply and call Holly. There is a crew that does nothing but emergency repairs and they are assigned by her. You won't get to her through the "proper channels" but the direction comes from her. I previously worked in the department and can also say that if your complaint comes from your councilman it's even better.

the city is undergoing a major overhaul with its sewer system. I've been smelling sewage in several areas of town, most noticeably near Valley street.

that's just how Valley St. smells, that isn't a new phenomenon.

Therin lies the problem. OP hates Delgado and has no connections to Freiberg.

They had to tear up a "NEW" valve after they put in the wrong type over by where I live near lee high. The sewer cap use to pop out of the street everytime something came through the line.

THey claimed it was an "air valve." the valve would jump out of the ground and bang around at all hours of the night.

Their "fix" was to put a vented sewer cap on the man hole....this turned the popping man hole cover into a whistling man hole cover.....

the sewer water....shite....toilet paper and everything would wash into the street and neighbors yard/drive way.

Took them over 4 months to have anything fixed.

Hope it works out for you.

The valley street smell is due to a sewer pumping station that was built recently with all the upgrades.. they claim it was due to not installing some type of filter but either still haven't installed them or that wasn't the problem because it still reeks at different times

Yea next time you use the vacuums at Benny's on Perkins enjoy the smell. That treatment plant that they spent millions on is right behind it.

There is no treatment plant there. It is a pump station.

Probably an air release valve for a sewer force main.

I know you were being sarcastic, but there's zero chance. Southdowns is south of Florida Blvd. in addition, she will likely make them change their name-South has racist overtones.
