Told my wife not to put out trashcans tonight because they will float down the street. And guess what? Got 5 trashcans floating down the street.

Good time to heap mad praise on the Harris County FWS website with real-time data.

Northshore area is going to be epic here in a bit. They've got 3.72" in the last half hour.

Efficient as frick.

2" PWats to fuel it. WPC has the high risk for flooding up for a reason.

Explain like I’m 5 please?

Also, is there enough energy in the atmosphere for these storms to be this strong by the time they get to Lake Charles?

I got 4.48" in 30 minutes on that Northshore gage. That's absolutely insane.

ETA - Whoops, 4.48" in 35 minutes, 4.04" in 30.

There's a lot of moisture available for rain making. And the arrows show the path of the moisture transport coming in.

Yes.

That's where the risk for flooding is the worst overnight.

All in all an additional 3-5" is expected from Refugio county into Cameron/Calcasieu Parish

God damn!

Lake Charles has a nasty storm on the way now, just south of Vinton.

Time to unstrap the flatboat from the trailer and tie it to the front door. Tell your wife she is in charge of the engine room and hand her a paddle because the Captain only gives orders.

I use the Harris County rain/water level gauges weekly in my work. They have got this shite figured out.

I fricked up and added 7 5 minute totals by accident. The half hour total was 4.04", 4.48" in 35 minutes, and 4.80" in 40 minutes.

Theres hail in those sections, but it's dumping a bunch of rain on top it.

ETA: 4" in a half hour is still pretty incredible.

Storm headed to Lake Charles is severe warned, but wouldn't be surprised to get a tornado warning in a minute.
