Yeah, we are experiencing that 100 year event right now. Over 12" of rain has fallen throughout the state with some areas up to 20". Here are some scenes:

Should have some better images from Columbia as it gets light outside.

Columbia (the worst has happened overnight):

Swift water rescue has been busy. I saw a crazy a video of some guy caught in the water hanging on to a stop sign. I will try to find that one. He managed to get out.

Flood

I-77 @ Decker Blvd

Also at Decker Blvd

Small dam collapse:

Neighborhood about 5 minutes from USC:

Charleston (I heard they closed the entire peninsula to traffic yesterday):

Reed Timmer (the guy from the tornado chasing show) was down there yesterday. He posted some good videos:

I would not advise going out in that, as those people are doing. Asking for it.

Yeah. See, whenever we get a heavy shower, there is some localized flooding in areas like Five Points on campus because of the creeks that go through downtown. Therefore, people have the false sense of security that it will be ok. However, this is something that has never been seen in our lifetime.

Yeah, I expect some crazier pictures from Columbia here soon now that it is getting light outside.

It never ceases to amaze me how people will get out and go driving during a flood. I could understand if they were evacuating, but it's usually just looky-Lou's dicking around. I especially like the last pic where the driver is traveling fast enough to push his wake over the sandbags
What a dumb shite

What the hell were these people thinking? Why in God's name would you attempt to drive through that?

I will never understand how people get caught out driving in these conditions, unless it's an unavoidable, dire emergency ..

So at least 1 dam failed in downtown Columbia, leading to part of the city achieving 500 year flood levels very quickly.

Lake Murray is going to do a release here pretty soon, so the rivers below are about to rise.

There have been at least 4 deaths so far.

I took this one about an hour ago.

I have done it couple of times moving boats that are parked under the camp when the water is rising. Driving with someone sitting on the hood telling you where the dirt road is under the water is unsettling. Too far left or right and your in a deep ditch.

Sims lake damn breech in Ft Jackson has fricked the world around here. My neighborhood is all completely trapped in. Fortunately I'm pretty high, but lots of others have flooded ground floors. The Jackson Blvd/ Devine/ s belt line area is underwater....my old house on kilbourne south of lake Katherine is gone......no one here has ever seen anything like this
