I'm wondering if there are any audio recordings from different decades, that immerse you in the aura and culture from that era.

For example, uninterrupted recordings from a cocktail party in the 60's where you can put on headphones, lay back, close your eyes and become a part of that decade...

It's obviously not a Google friendly search term which is why I'm reaching out here..

Elderly People Throughout The US (1929)

Amazing footage from early sound newsreels

An 84 year old tells how he enlisted to fight "the War of the Rebellion" in 1861

A man born in 1826 says he's a Republican, but before that he always voted Whig!!!

A 94 year old lady says "For a North Georgia cracker of my size and age I've done pretty well in my education".
She also tells of seeing the Indians being moved from Georgia to the Indian Territory (present day Oklahoma) when she was around three.

Great recommendation. Listening to it now.

And yes history lessons would be 100x more fun and memorable these days with virtual reality.

Get you a bottle of bourbon, a pack of smokes, and watch Mad Men.

(cool idea for a thread btw)

I don't know about finding specific events like parties, but there was some radio guy (maybe an audio engineer) who did this for years in New York City at all different places and different times of the day. Maybe you could use that to narrow down your search?

You need a job.

Also the answer is NO. Recording was difficult at that time. No one is going to waste money on recording background noise.

Search NASA mission control moon landing.

Was a big part in human history at the time. Dam shame we took 10 steps back. We as a human race at that time had a " can do". Now, it is, "wasn't me".

Check out Deadball Era baseball footage, or listen to the audio recordings of Lawrence Ritter's "The Glory of Their Times". You'll hear interviews with baseball players who played at the turn of the century, along with their stories of legends of yesteryear, including Hall of Famer "Wahoo" Sam Crawford who patrolled the Detroit Tigers outfield with Ty Cobb.
