Do you remember your first trip or when you started going to Sonic, late 90s? Early 2000s?
Sonic Wiki

quote:

Sonic Corp., more commonly known as Sonic (stylized as SONIC), is the operator of an American drive-in fast-food restaurant chain based in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

quote:

the headquarters building features a dine-in Sonic restaurant in an adjacent building

quote:

Following World War II, Sonic founder Troy N. Smith Sr. returned to his hometown of Seminole, Oklahoma, where he became employed as a milkman. He decided to work delivering bread because bread was not as heavy as milk. Soon afterwards, Smith purchased the Cottage Cafe, a little diner in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Before long, he sold it and opened a fast food restaurant

quote:

However, on a trip to Louisiana, Smith saw a drive-in that used speakers for ordering. He suspected that he could increase his sales by controlling the parking and having the customers order from speakers at their cars, with carhops delivering the food to the cars.

Anybody guess where in La?

Just pondering over some thoughts while I enjoy a Cheesecake Shake

It was along the Texas-Louisiana border, but no exact location was ever named.

I remember at Mr Cook you would order on the phones at each table. I thought maybe Sonic might have stolen that idea.

Had to be somewhere on Florida Blvd. We fought in the pits or at McDonald's in Central growing up.

ETA - I remember going to car shows at a Sonic in BR somewhere in the 80s.

How many corn dogs do you guys get on 50 cent corn dog day? I usually get six, I eat four at Sonic and then have a couple left over to snack on in bed with my family.

I believe the first Sonic I recall seeing was on Florida - maybe between Sherwood and Flannery, but that's been a while.

There were several other drive-ins, though.

There was a Sonic on Florida Blvd right next to Sonny's BBQ - late 70's, maybe 1980
