Not only did the son know that would lure his dad out but they got into a car and drove to the location instead of pops saying something like "That's great, junior but you can just take a pic on your phone and show it to me"

I'd like to have some missing details and perhaps since it's your post, you'd know. After pushing him off who alerted the wilderness rescue about the incident? Did the 78 yo call, the son or some other witness. Was the 78 yo left at the base of the cliff for any length of time? I mean if you're going to push your old man off a cliff to kill him why did he just stick around till EMS came? He is such a piece of shite he probably just waited around up there until he was arrested. There are some missing pieces here and the link you provided is sparse at best.
