My little brother tried breaking up a scuffle in a bar in North Alabama almost 20 years ago. He got gutted for his efforts and had to be life flighted to Birmingham and barely made it.

Have you talked to your family about any of this, or are you making assumptions to support how you want things to be?

We should play the game when do I intervene? That would really tell you about people.

Maybe the other people would have watched you get stabbed to death. Life isn’t like TV. Knife fights are brutal.
Enough of this. We do not need to be preemptively discussing the pros and cons and deciding that we aren’t going to help women and children who are being killed right in front of us.
Harden your hearts, be ready to fight for each other.
There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

Are you comfortable putting the needs of a stranger above the needs of your wife and children? Or your family in general?
Are you comfortable with your wife or children bleeding out on a fricking train while people watch and do nothing?
What a fricking clown thread and the very reason why we are where we are as a society. Because of pussies like you.

Help a stranger, sure. Take on a person with a deadly weapon? I’d probably try to avoid that.

Breaking up a bar fight is a whole different scenario that helping an overmatched girl fight off a career criminal.

Do you start this thread if your wife bled out on the train that day while people watched?

People being attacked for no reason are my friends.
Aren’t we all tired of living this atomized and fearful life? Don’t say it doesn’t apply to you unless you are doing all of the things you would do if violent crime wasn’t a part of the equation.

Weegle, your take is a sad one. Says volumes about your mindset and honestly, what is wrong with this country today. A generation that thinks like that is a generation that will surrender this country one day.

Yes. many times.
My family knows I'm no hero but I also would never stand by and let someone get brutalized or killed if I could intervene.
It's called being a man.

I've seen posts bashing the other commuters for not intervening. I think everyone of those people were in shock, and didn't fully understand what just had happened. Probably thought the guy just hit her instead of stabbing her. I couldn't tell that lady was bleeding out from watching that video of the 15-20 seconds after the incident. I wouldn't knock anyone there because I wasn't in their shoes.
Quit having lower expectations for them. Hitting her is now ok for them to ignore???
They should have immediately checked on her and called for help. It likely still would not have helped to save her unless they had some medical expertise, but it would have shown some humanity.
The murderer had her blood dripping from him as he walked away making it more obvious more than a hit occurred.

Perfectly is that's what God will for me. What I'm not comfortable with is living my life a coward knowing I did nothing if it was in my means to help someone. I'm sure my children would agree.
This would be rough for some people.
Seriously, a bad resentment to carry.
