Some people do what they call "zero-scaping" and just have rock gardens, but they still have to have trees, shrubs, etc. It's cheaper to do that since you don't have to water anything. Some folks also do turf. I have seen some that looks just like grass and I've seen some that looks like crap.
So the HOA allows for all grass, all rock, or all turf, but a combo is not allowed? Seems oddly specific and arbitrary.
That pic is lame for many reasons, including the yard in question. However, if they set up some nice wood patio furniture and stuff, it could look decent.

I'll tell my butler's driver's assistant.
His drug-addicted cousin's retarded niece is looking for a new place.

They have a few requirements but it’s nothing over the top. My backyard has grass, rock, and mulch. Mainly grass white rock around the perimeter and mulch around trees and shrubs.

Who knew #57 stone could be used as landscaping.
I’d rather live in a townhouse then deal with a backyard like that.

The neighborhood does have a section with townhouses/carriage houses. Someone linked one.

What'd you do? Search for the cheapest house in the neighborhood?
There are several for sale between $350-$450. Hardly in the "you probably can't afford it" range.
Also, if your utility bill really does double or triple watering your grass, going turf doesnt seem like a bad idea, especially with the small yards in that neighborhood.

Seriously though...what's the point of that?
Whats the point of those fences?

it’s just expensive. You have to water frequently in the summer which often causes peoples utility bills to double if not triple.
Sounds like YOU can't afford it.

Based on how big of a prick you're being, I'm expecting Beau Chene or The Sanctuary.
I read this and wondered how expensive Beau Chene had become. The spread between the condos there and the detached homes is pretty eye-popping. Granted, the condos don't seem to be very well-updated, but "buying something in Beau Chene" seems easily within the reach of the unwashed proletariat.
Bad decision even building that shite.

If it's a woman asking....she may be hinting to the remaining 4 minutes 30 seconds being used to take care of her after 30 seconds is used to actually mow the lawn. Not bad for 5 minutes out of your day to be neighborly.

And yea the only downside to this neighborhood is the yard size, but it more than makes up for it with all the fields, parks, trails, pools, gym, tennis courts, etc.
You left out the easy to deal with HOA.
Cause we all know they are all up in your business. frick an HOA.

I’m not a baller by any means. I’m making E-6 military pay and my wife is an SLP. Together we do well enough to have nice things (not the best) and not live paycheck to paycheck. My kids don’t want for anything. All that matters to me.
Regarding Beau Chene, I don’t know much about it. I don’t come from much, especially not a place like that. I only said Beau Chene and the Sanctuary because back when I lived in the La those were the well to do areas.
This post was to laugh at a pretty weird backyard, but if ya wanna use it to dig at me that’s cool. I have thick skin.

The biggest issue with Beau Chene is that so many of the houses are now VERY dated.

If we were here long term then I’d definitely have gone ahead and put in the turf. I’m a pay for convenience guy and turf is almost no maintenance and no additional costs per month. But the sod was >12-13K cheaper and I realistically could be here two years and then have to move again.
We’re loving CO so I hope we can stay here a while. If I could stay here the rest of my career I would. Then I’d love to retire and move up north a bit and build a smaller house on more land.
