That's not the point. Perhaps I've given you too much credit.
The actual point is that in threads about going to 30A or Orange Beach wherever, you have plenty of dorks saying you could go to Europe or wherever for the same money.
Besides being untrue after factoring flights and travel days etc, it's a completely useless comment since that is a different kind of trip (which at least you can see that part). You were doing that same exact thing in this thread by suggesting international skiing over a Disney trip

And yet both would be magnitudes more enjoyable for young children than Europe or showing them places of cultural significance that, at that age, they would care nothing for.
Yea which is why I take my kids to the beach often. They love it.

Who said anything about that?

And yet you went out of your way to keep your oldest from Disney even after they explicitly asked to go.

Because his house isn’t a democracy, damnit! He rules that roost!

Yeah let me take my 3 year old on a transatlantic flight, waste 2 days getting his sleep schedule reconfigured, to go to a different country he wont appreciate or know whats going on.
Or I can hop on a 2 hour flight, have no logistical issues, and see his face light up for as long as we are there.

Outside of that, for the life of me I can’t understand spending thousands to go to central Florida or Anaheim to see a park designed for children. You can take that money and go to a real place.
I went to Disney once with my kids and had a great time. I never needed to go back and my kids never once asked to do so.
We prefer going to "real places."
I'm glad places like Disney exist for people who prefer to go there, so they aren't running over and crowding the real places I like to visti.
Dispersion is a good thing.

I know I've had this discussion with some other posters here, but Disney also has adult-geared events like the Food and Wine Festival, Festival of the Holidays, Festival of the Arts, etc. these days that are pretty popular.
If you're talking about "Disney Adults" who do nothing but go to Disney, I wouldn't be remotely surprised if the lure for them is they grew up in a "Disney" household and it's nostalgic OR they grew up in a household who couldn't afford Disney growing up so they're doing it now. Both folks I've known who were Disney adults were the ones who grew up in a house that couldn't afford it.
Outside of that, it's a lot of fun as an adult to see a kid experience Disney for the first time and I understand families wanting to do that. That said, I think there is a definite keeping up with the Joneses thing with Disney today and people going into significant debt for it is weird IMO.
Personally, I did Disney with my family when I was younger a few times (I had a cousin that worked at Disney at one point and lived in Kissimmee so we could get cheap tickets). It was fun when I was younger but I think the only thing that would draw me back at this point would be if the step kid asked to go (she hasn't and she's 17) or we went for one of the festivals and hit some other stuff in Florida while there.
We were also the family that never went anywhere else growing up but to a Mom and Pop on the beach in St. Pete every year (everything was saved up for that one trip) and as an adult I've been going to other places.

Not at all. We were already planning to go on a different trip. Little guy had a blast and got to meet Jared Jones and Josh Pearson after the Cotuit/Brewster game just a few weeks after they won the WS in omaha.

Irrelevant to the fact you denied your kid Disney. Why couldn't the next trip have been Disney? .. you better not say because that's not what he wanted, since kids don't dictate the trips in your house, remember?

You shouldn't be. No one in this thread has brought up going on international ski trips.

But who said they would rather go to europe than the beach?

So sorry for jumbling your multiple alternatives to Disney into one.

Plenty of people make that exact suggestion on this forum.

I feel the same way about renting a condo at the beach, sitting in the sand watching the waves for 8 hours. It's like a big TV screen that never changes channels.
Then you take pictures and post them on FB or Instagram hoping others will be jealous of you while they stay home and mow the lawn.

We all know adults that go to Disney often for whatever reason. I have multiple friends that have timeshares and crap like that who go to Disney every month without children under 20.
