Someone explain the “driving slowly over rocks” activity

My wife wants a Wrangler. I’m trying to talk myself into it, and see these videos of dudes driving slowly over rocks and big puddles in them. Why would anyone want to do that?

Adventure awaits in a 4x4! Duh

I think you get ducks for that

Your wife thinks a jeep will make her look cool. Tell her she’s going to be the same lame woman no matter what she drives

Chill out and let her have her fun

Explain driving slowly over railroad tracks. Makes it much more bumpy going slower.

The answer is in your post.
Here’s a hint: Wife and dudes.

It's a metaphor for what your wife likes to do with Jody.

Wait, do the dumb ads with the stock SUV going aggressively fast on snowy or sandy terrain actually work on real people? I thought it was just some marketing ploy that keeps being done because it’s always been done.
Get the sporty SUV if you want but you’ll feel like an idiot when you never do any of that and it only ever sees asphalt

Unless she wants to constantly be fixing issues it’s not for her. A wrangler is amazing and a lot of fun but man are they made bad. A lot of plastic parts that break overtime and can be fixed within 1-2 hours

I learned as a 5 year old if you go "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" while riding on a gravel road it makes a noise like "ahahahahahahahahahahah"

My son has owned 2 Wranglers. You can order any part for that vehicle, watch a 10 minute YouTube video and fix it. They may be the easiest modern vehicles to work on.

I recently drove a Wrangler from St Francisville to Gulfport. (I deliver and/or transport cars and trucks as a part time retirement job) I found that it rode rough, maybe because of the short wheelbase. Also, it got horrible mileage (16 mpg on I-10 and I-12).
It's your choice, or maybe your wife's, but I can't see a majority of women being happy with a Jeep in the long run. (No disrespect to you or your wife.)

Not the JLs (2018+). They are all kinds of fricked to work on.
Really the last “easy” generation was the TJ which they quit making in 2006.
To OP: that’s rock crawling. Her stock Jeep wouldn’t be able to do 90% of that stuff. And those people are serious about their rock crawlers and spend another $20k+ on outfitting them.
They are basically like adult legos. You can do anything you want to them by adding parts. I love my old Jeep, but it’s strictly a toy and I would never have one if it was my daily driver.

It's a jeep, so it will break in many different ways

Hill climbing and general off-road excursions are great. A friend took me on some Jeep club outing and that's all we did - ridiculously rocky trails. You gotta be really into that shite because it isn't particularly fun. I don't get the appeal. For 2 or 3 hours we never got over .25 MPH and it's a definite no-go if you have back problems.
To your point: This was a new Jeep and the back bumper caught on a rock and got torn halfway off
