Some people spend 10s of thousands on Disney and others spend 10s of thousands watching a children's game. Different strokes for different folks.

I have never been without my kids but if I lived in the area I could see getting an annual pass every few years. Epcot can be a fun place to have a drink.

Simply put, some people want to feel like a kid again. If walking around a park spending too much money makes you happy, then go for it. Disney isn't for everyone, but to some, it's the best place on earth. I personally love Disney World. Sure it's expensive, but few things capture that feeling of walking into a park and getting to ride rides all day with not a care in the world

I know living in Florida with kids, we can get yearly passes and do day trips year round for a fraction of the price people spend on coming from out of state and staying for like a week.
As a parent you know you're going somewhere that is clean and safe, and your kid will have a great time (and burn off a ton of their energy). I can honestly say every time that I've been I haven't seen one gender freak, staff or guest. I have seen the viral videos of some at Disney, so I get why people have that impression, just hasn't been my experience personally.
We generally have a great time. Guardians of the Galaxy is an incredible ride, Epcot in general has a lot for adults.
Would I come with just me and my wife and no kids? Maybe once every decade or so.

True, but I think the underlying premise is inaccurate. I give a shite when you blow $$$$ on Disney, or travel ball, or trips to Cancun, and then act desperate and surprised when college costs come up and start whingeing about money.
Valid point although the issue of college costs and student loans is a little bit off the mark....the taxpayer is on the hook for most of that debt unless the borrower pays it back and most do not. The terms of most student loans guarantees the lender about 97% of the debt will be paid by the taxpayer if the borrower doesn't pay it back. That is of course the main issue and should be reigned in severely (at least it should be based on the number of students who actually receive a degree and what kind of degree it is). Until it is reigned in though the taxpayer is either going to pay back about 97% or the borrower is going to pay back everything. Most studies indicate that more than half and up to 75% of student loans are going to fall on taxpayers to pay....that money is spent, it doesn't represent and sort of savings, the horse has left the barn. Given that taxpayers are on the hook either way, and again that needs to change immediately but it ain't going to be retroactive, there is little to no upside and a pile of downside to put borrowers in a position with bad credit that makes them even more of a burden on the taxpayer.

Suspended adolescence.
Most "adults" are still trying to live their adolescent or college years.

If this board is ever slow, all someone needs to do is start a Disney or 30A thread. Then all of the losers who can't afford to go will come and start bashing
The people that can afford to do something other than go to the Florida panhandle are the ones that shite on it

It’s a big world out there and people choose to go see a bunch of people play dress up and stand in lines for a 2 minute ride year after year. And pay $8k for 4 days for the privilege

Wierd AF.
Especially given their politics I wouldn't ever go to Disney, kid or adult. I'm not sure how anybody more conservative than a moderate democrat ever goes to Disney. It's not a good company despite their supposedly innnocent product that is also no longer innocent.

My wife’s sister is OBSESSED with Disney World. I don’t get it. She thinks it’s the greatest place on earth.

Disney World in Orlando opened in 1971 or 72, if I recall correctly. A lot of the people who enjoyed the hell out of it as kids in the 70s and 80s (and 90s to some degree) are now going back and trying to recapture the memories by visiting the place they loved. What they usually discover when they get there is that they aren't looking for a place, they're looking for a time that no longer exists.

I addressed that in my post, I've never personally seen anything like that there

Me either and we have been at least once a year for the last 5 years. Even when we went to Disneyland we didn't that kind of stuff.

Adult women who go to Disney by themselves have gummy smiles

I don't want to even know someone who goes to Disney 3 or 4 times a year.

Used to go with the kids a couple times a year , but now that they're older we're trying to do other things... Don't get me wrong I enjoy being there, but i've gotten to the point where I just want to go to Epcot drink around the world and play golf ... I could do without the other parks..
Also, Food and Wine Fest is great... If you avoid the weekends.. You want to talk about a crowded shitshow.. F&W on the weekends can kiss my arse

Probably tied up in a timeshare and are now bullied into going

I’m not a Disney adult, but we end up in Orlando probably every couple of years and it can be fun. We don’t go all out and buy all the ears and stuff. But we still like (some) rides and it’s good people watching. It’s fun to see kids getting excited about it. And you get to look at the poor dads and feel sorry for them and their bank account. I def wouldn’t want to be there multiple times per year though.
ETA if you’re ever flying solo in Orlando for a conference or something, go to the parks in your spare time and take advantage of the single rider lines. You’ll speed thru.
