That doesn't mean that what he did wasn't awesome. Scruffy just disagrees with the idea of getting anything back for supposed "selfless" acts.

I don't think most people realize just how charitable Jewish people are. Family, God, Charity are ingrained into their culture.

good grief...maybe it wasn't 'perfectly' selfless and maybe it was, but he certainly doesn't need to be called out because he took a few minutes to explain why he did it and say thank you to the troops...
with so much crap in the world to complain or be critical of, choosing this to find fault in is just silly...if that's all you got to complain about, things are pretty good
the guy did a good thing, others could learn from it...end of story

In 2012 Rechnitz heard about Diane Aulger, a mother of five in North Texas that had her labor induced few weeks early so that her husband could meet their daughter before he died from pulmonary fibrosis. Upon hearing the story, Rechnitz personally phoned Augler himself and sent her $20,000.[1][9] In the autumn of 2014 Shlomo pledged $2.5 million to the Lakewood Cheder School's building campaign, enabling the school to finish their new building and thus allowing the children to begin school on time.[10]
In June 2015, Rechnitz donated $250,000 to restore the Mount Zion Cemetery in East Los Angeles. Mount Zion, also known as the “orphan cemetery,” is the final resting place of many of the founders of the Los Angeles Jewish community, but has been neglected, and even vandalized, over the years.[11]

Almost every Soldier who has returned from a deployment has landed in that airport. I've only been there twice, but I remember it being rather small with only one terminal and a few gates. That is a very kind gesture and I know all of the guys returning home appreciated it more than most people can imagine.
BTW, I had a real Irish beer brewed in Ireland at that bar on 11 Nov 05. Best beer I ever had.

I have flown through Shannon airport on my way to, and from the middle east. Man its nice to have a beer there after being in a dry area for months.

And I'm pretty sure that it would be pretty difficult to buy 400 meals at various restaurants in an airport without being noticed.
