Solution to the Mardi Gras $$$ issue

Sell ladder permits for $25 each along the parade route. Issue a $50 fine to any ladder without a permit.
Sell tent, shelter and space permits for $50 each.
Issue a ticket for $100 to anyone without a permit who sets up.
Sell the permits on line and have the meter maids, and other dead head city workers checking the parade routes for permits.
Most of them are claiming ownership to city property. Let them pay for that right.

Imagine the line at city hall for a ladder permit.
Who will be paying for the extra city workers to collect the fees and then go out and issue fines for non permit compliance.
Then if you sell it on a city app, who is going to pay for operation and maintenance on this new app or integrate it to an existing city app.

Or, stick with me here, the city should tighten its belt / eliminate some waste and allow citizens to stand on a public street / watch a parade without being taxed.
As usual, the government doesn’t have a revenue problem, they have a spending problem.

You’d make a killing if you put Porta-Potties on every other block on the parade routes and charge $5 for a piss/dump.

All ladders should be banned on parade route city property.

Mardi Gras works because it is free. If you want to pay for a spot, balcony, bathroom, or cover you can. If not it’s on you.
