I feel worse for anyone who buys from them, which is basically just old people or low IQ types.

I have way more positive interactions than negative ones. Made some really good friends over the years. Not to mention the connections.
I’ve got several people I could call that would put me to work if I get get tired of doing what I do.

I’m guessing you’re old as shite. Please don’t come to my building. The staff will be rude to you if you stay past “not interested regardless of what you’re selling” and tell you to GTFO, by design.

It's hot outside.
I answer the door with an immediate "I'm not interested, but would you like a bottle of water or a popsicle?"... they generally shut up and accept refreshments and go about their day.
If I have no bottled drinks or popsicles on hand, I just don't answer the door.
I hate door knocking as much as anyone else- but a little kindness goes a long way.

I wouldn’t do anything else. I don’t work hard physically and only have to be in the office a few hours a week. The rest of the time is my time as long as I produce. Now I’m always on and I do have the stress of making a number but I usually keep a very happy work life balance.

Who besides yourself would be making the decision to move forard?
I’m 44 so I’m old but not old as shite. I’ve been with the same company for 23 years and have 12 years on the service side and 11 years on the sales side.

Same question. Solicitation is terrible. Why be that person? Sounds awful.
Because you can make really good money and have lots of freedom.
I will say this, knocking doors at folks home is terrible and I can’t stand it at my house. With that being said the best way to keep sales reps out of your place is to put a fence around the place with a call box??.
If you work for a decent size company chances are I can get your name, email and cell phone by a couple of clicks while I’m sitting on my couch.

"I'm not in the selling business...I'm in the giving business. I give away opportunities for you to increase production, have peace of mind for your family, have a set of steak knives your great great great kids will still be using" (or whatever the product is.)

Of course I have but I also have a job to do, bills to pay, and family to feed.

I’ve been an outside salesmen for 5 years and have had maybe two negative interactions total. A smile and being kind goes a long way.
Most big corporations have a secretary who gets paid to deal with you and most small business owners love to talk about themselves and I am genuinely interested in their stories.
I am B2B. On the flip side, I have no interest in doing residential sales and 8pm would be a terrible time to call on somebody

I guarantee you I make more money than you, have more time off, and will retire earlier than you. Save your pity for someone who drives a desk for a 3% raise every year.
