Hell, the native deer population in the southeast isn't white tail, it was another deer that was hunted to extinction and that's when population density was .01% of what it is now.

By the time you feed your chickens and a few other livestock, dry a bunch for milling, that corn doesn't go very far.

There's actually a ton of youtubers who show you to grow your own food on a quarter acre. Making 6 figures gardening micro greens and other quick maturing plants. Pretty interesting rabbit hole to fall in if you're curious.

Not sure an exact figure, but it wouldn't be a very big area I don't think. I think you could feed a family of 4 on maybe 3 or 4 acres maybe. That should be big enough to raise some chickens and a few pigs and have a decent enough garden for fruits and veggies. Idk maybe 5 acres and still have room to rotate crops every other year where you don't deplete the soil.
ETA you could definitely do it on less than 5 acres but 5 acres would be big enough to give you some options and variety where you aren't eating the same 3 or 4 things every day. Something that size would let you keep living without making a huge sacrifice in you quality of life I think.

That's not the same as sustaining a household. They can sell 6 oz of trendy microgreens for $7 and the plant continues replenishing itself in a controlled enviroment (with electricity, mind you) is a great money making business. But in a SHTF scenario, a quarter acre of microgreens is absolutely worthless.

Do you have any idea how much pigs eat? You will need an acre per pig just to grow enough food to feed it.

You could maybe approach 100k in revenue with aquaponic greenhouses on a quarter acre, but you'd have to be growing some really special shite.

I've never raised pigs, so no, I don't. I never claimed to be an expert and this is just a hypothetical. For shits and giggles.
So nix the hogs and keep the chickens and raise some rabbits. That, plus going to hunt bigger game whenever you need to stock up, or fishing if you had access. I think it could be done between 4 people pitching in.

80ac at least. Part for ag, part pasture, part hardwood timber for fire wood, small game, deer, etc. Need a few water wells and a pond as well. Ideally it would front a river but be high enough to not flood on most years.

Just a few examples. It's neat, but I don't know anybody in Arkansas paying $$ for fresh produce the way they are selling it.
