Social Security has lost its collective mind

swmbo received her court judgment changing her name. She then took her drivers license, passport and social security card to the south baton rouge SSA office, where she was met by a security guard who instructed her to fill out a form, and drop it in the box, along with all her original docs. The office is vacant with the lights off.
SSA web site says do not send original docs, which "should be kept secure by all persons." so i called the Harding office, and they confirmed that you cannot get an in-person appointment and that they will not accept copies. when i pointed out that their web site says not to send originals, she hung up on me.

Been living in Louisiana long? I’m pretty sure my license is still suspended down there after I gave up trying to get it fixed five years ago

Call other SS offices outside of Baton Rouge or even the national office. You may be able to get this done elsewhere

That's what they do. I firmly believe they are told to purposely give wrong information or stall to avoid paying the benefits. My old man had to go to the office 6 times before he find got his benefits. Apparently they didn't process the application at the office for like 2-3 months. It was just sitting there in their document room.

I had to go to the SS office one time. I don't remember how bad dit was but I wanted to burn it down. Went to the liquor store and looked hard and long at the ever clear bottle. Decided it was against my best interest to do such an act so I proceeded to get blitzed on tequila and beer. I still don't remember why I had to deal with them. Very frustrating they are.
