Many teachers are underpaid given their working conditions with the kids of entitled parents.

You are correct.

I have yet to see in one of these threads where the younger generation has shown any empathy for someone who has paid hundreds of thousands of dollars and wants to get something back.

I like the one from a few months ago where the young guy finally said what he was really thinking that he "wishes all people older than him would die" so he wouldn't have to worry about collecting SS When he gets older.

Been a couple of those in this thread. It's sad.

I wonder how all of the younger generation that bitch about boomers feel about their parents or grandparents getting SS.

Sounds like we found the fix. Millennials can continue to pay in and waive and right to collect. Should fix everything.

Lets do this.

X years and older, no change. You still pay and you still get

Between ages Y and X - you keep paying, but you never get anything. Sorry, youre getting fricked. Id be in this bracket, and I dont even care. We're already figuring on getting fricked

Below age Y - you stop paying it / never will pay it, and it will be non existent by year 20XX

Lets do this. Rip it off. frick all these working class white people who claim to hate everything to do with welfare but throw a nuclear fit about anything negatively affecting their welfare check. They all claim they "never thought they would get it" but refuse to live without it because "theyre getting back what they are owed."

Your kids and grandkids deserve better than being forced into this abortion of a government money scheme. We need to get serious about fixing the government and its gross spending problem and this is one this that needs to get fixed. We all know what will happen. Raise the retirement age and add means testing to it. Its inevitable. It will be slow rolled out into perpetuity until it is just another chunk of the rediculous amounts of taxes we all pay. frick that.

I have had the same thought as well. Why do you hate your parents/grandparents so much?

Ive had this exact discussion with my parents. I dont hate them. What a rediculous thing to say.

I completely get it. Though it may not come across this way I wish there were a way to differentiate between the people who earned a little something back from uncle sam vs the ones who's existance was a net negative on the world yet still feel that I owe them more than I already give.

But that isnt reality. Reality is we pay entirely too much taxes, our government spends like a drunk teenager with daddy's credit card, and shite needs to change or the middle class will cease to exist.

Same. I don’t even have kids but I agree. It seems increasingly likely that millennials will be the last generation with widespread private wealth. We need to consider how to preserve it for future generations so that they’re not UBI slaves for the Fed’s broken dollar system.

And you don’t escape that system without actually leaving it. Save in real money.

Still not enough considering what was put in. SS is the biggest scam scheme out there.

Just to be clear are you trying to insinuate the four years under Biden were the good years?

Yeah anyone ascribing our debt/inflation problem to a specific political party doesn’t understand how deeply rooted the problem is. Neither party has had any interest in austerity. And it’s genuinely too late for it at this point. It’s counterintuitive but you actually have to keep the pedal down now because the system is more fragile.

That'll be the generation that mandates euthanasia at 65. Basically the Canada model if Canada could actually get away with it.

Just imagine that instead of their parents getting SS and living independently they were suddenly not getting it and it fell upon the whiny bro class to take care of them instead. You know, like how their parents took care of them for 20 years. Seems fair doesnt it? Well not to the "I wish they'd all die crowd" it wouldn't. Bet they'd reaaally whine about how much they hate old people then

I love old people including my parents. I certainly don’t wish they all died. I do wish they had never discovered the internet though.

If SS taxes for my two brothers and I stopped today, we would easily have several thousand dollars extra each month to support our parents.

You and I agree on this. Sadly we seem to be moving further away from freedom and closer to socialism with our largest political party actively promoting it. Its quite sad.

I obviously say it sarcastically because most us love our parents/grandparents, but I do wonder why there is so much hate and venom slung on this board towards the millions of people who are just like your parents.

For example in your recent post with your proposed "fix" you immediately follow up with calling out "X" as welfare recipients.

Do you honestly view your parents as welfare recipients? If not, then why spew that venom towards your friends' parents, your aunts and uncles, or millions of others who are just like your parents?

It's sad that Boomers didn't:

Ask for it
Vote for it
Have a choice in contributing to it
But did elect a Republicans president who promised to get rid of it.

The Democrat posters, like all Democrats, don't admit that they're the ones who back a party that firmly endorsed it, and will always continue to do so.

That's the only way.

People that just "end it right now!!1!" are halfwits and foolish.

A structured phase out is the only way, and some small % will to remain for the disabled.
And since we know that many people lack the discipline to save, you make mandatory retirement accounts part of the solution.

Unfortunately, since we know the Democratic Party will never agree to any of this, I doubt any of it ever happens.
