Sober people, at what point did you realize you had a problem with alcohol?

Every evening I stop drinking. I realize I have a problem but love it too much not to do it again the next day....oh, I still take care of my family and go to work btw

Mine is the binge. Don't drink everyday, but when I go to LSU games or all day affairs, I don't have a stop button.

My problem was that the hangovers got worse.I finally said that I'll never have a hangover again. It's been 13 or 14 years and I haven't drank more than 3 of anything in that time and I rarely drink anything at all now.

I'm not sure I ever really had a problem or caused scenes or others harm. I think as I got older I just hated how getting drunk on a Friday or Saturday night wasn't worth the hangover and not being able to enjoy the things I really enjoyed on the weekends like getting out and being active. For me, there wasn't a worse feeling than wasting a whole day off laying around feeling nautious or sick from drinking so I just decided to quit one day. My social life took a hit but I eventually found things and people to enjoy. I really don't even have a desire anymore to go grab a drink somewhere. Never crosses my mind. Good luck if you decide to do so.

I had a stomach bug and couldn't drink for a few days so I had a seizure. Sober for six months now.

Just move on to dope and you won't have a drinking problem anymore.

So what? You're having a good time, no big deal. I like to brown out with my friends occasionally. I think you only have a problem if you turn into an a-hole or beat up on your girlfriend. If everyone says you're neither of those then just stay out from behind the wheel and keep on with your bad self.

One sign of alcoholism is binge drinking. Not binging itself, but not having that stop or slow button like you mentioned. Do you avoid drinking socially because you know you can't stop at 2 or 3 drinks, or don't see the point of only a couple of beers?

I quit once for about a year because I thought a problem. Talked to a bunch of people and figured out I didn't have a problem with alcohol just self control. Started drinking again with more thought in to what I was doing and no more problems.

The first time ever drinking I knew it wouldn't end good. When I drank I always over did it to the point where I was a complete a-hole or vomit and pass out by the porcelain God.By the time I was 19,drinking was only done on special occasions. Drinking alcohol has never been my thing. Now, i'm no angel I have a consumed a lot of illegal substances and have addictions that I will struggle with until I die.
