After being at least a 50 beer/ week guy for the last 20 or so years, I've only consumed 3 beers in the month of April. Those three were while eating crawfish last Saturday. On a normal crawfish boil day, I'd drink at least 12, if not 20 beers. I feel much better and my pants are fitting a little better so far. I'm really enjoying Arnold Palmers lately, and make even turn them into John Dalys when I get the urge for a drink.

I've been sober just under 49 years. Never miss it and don't drink NA beer.

7 years and I would say it is a terrible idea.

That flavor is associated with you getting drunk. You body is reacting to the flavor whether you think it is or not. You are extending your pain by drinking NA.

You are supposed to be removing temptation not adding to it and I firmly think you are putting yourself in harms way.

In 7 years, I've never heard of someone continuing to stay sober drinking NA. I have heard numerous tales of people going back out there and they started with NA.

If you are serious about this post...

Realize it is hugely fricked that you do ask this if you aren't serious and you're worse than those poking fun at your situation if you're disingenuous.

That said, I have a brother going through this and I'd have to ask what your intentions are by thinking you need that beer satisfaction at the end of a work session? I would say that 4 months are too near for you to satisfy this urge and think you have it under control. Your wife can be a total count about it but what have you done to her that makes you realize you have a problem?

Is this just a problem in it's infancy? Do you have kids? Did you hit her? Have you been drinking so much you weren't fulfilling your day to day obligations? Without know how far you let it get, there's no way for outsiders to answer.

This was my first sign of going back to drinking after I quit for a bit.

First off, props for manning up and dealing with an issue.

Second, your wife put up with a lot of shite when you were drinking, yet she stayed with you.

Third, you know the right answer.

What VetteGuy said. It's likely you know the answer but you want some vindication for making a decision you think you need back up for.

FYI, the OT ain't it...

You'll be drinking the real shite soon enough. Ten years here. A few of the failed attempts before that all started with stupid ideas like drinking NA beer "because I like the taste of beer".

You already know what the correct answer is.

You just don't want to do it.

Man up and get right.

PS: Your choice of favorite team needs attention as well.

What's the difference between habit and addiction? So if I binge smoke cigarettes and beer on Friday and Saturday nights and don't touch them the rest of the week is that habit or weekend addiction?

It really doesn't matter what I think.

You decide for yourself.

I knew an old guy who was sober for over 20 year and he drank NA beer , said he liked the taste , so it can be done ...

But you know weather you can do it or not ...

There is a reason people don't buy N/A beer unless they can't have alcohol.
