A salted, plowed road is a lot easier to navigate than a frozen unsalted road. Turning is where people frick up.

I saw not one plow truck the entire time. The state really dropped the ball on this snow event. It's not like they didn't know it was coming but it seemed to drop more snow and wet heavy snow which caused a lot of the problems.

All of this ^^^. The salt trucks are usually out well before first snow. I didn’t see any trucks yesterday or see any salt on the streets this morning. Unfortunately next time city officials will overreact instead of just doing what they should do.

Yesterday was also parent teacher conferences in NYC. It’s a half day of school then conferences in the afternoon; kids were already home. It could have been a much bigger shitshow if the city was full of stranded kids.

People en mass cant drive for shite no matter where they live.

Transportation and transit are the lifeblood of our city. 3 inches of snow have crippled #NYC and this is unacceptable. Moms are stranded with their kids, people are running out of gas. This is unacceptable & we demand answers.

The problem is between the seat and the steering wheel.

NYC snow storm, near midnight kids still stuck on school buses

Wtf? This is the main thing I got out of this. Surely they could have done something for those kids

There is no way in hell I'd ever live in a large city like NYC. I wouldn't call NYC a shithole though. Great city to visit.

But, like most of California, it's the jackasses who live there that makes it suck to be there longer than a few days.

it really is.

I worked and lived in Manhattan for a year.

Enough "charm" to last me the rest of my life. Talk about your shitty quality of life.

Every night when I blew my nose I had a Kleenex full of Black shite from being in the city all day.

ETA but it's fun for a weekend to "play" a new Yorker.

I'm sure you dont know how to drive in the snow just like SoCal people cannot drive in the rain

Its weird how "yankees" trigger "southerners"

Years go here in central Arkansas we had 12 inches on Christmas day. People from all over the place travelling for the holiday. People were piling up in the valleys between mountains. Just as many stuck yankees as southerners.

With my trusty $300 jeep I tried pulling people out only to watch them get stuck again in the next valley. I spent 14 hours giving people rides to hotels. No police or tow trucks... just me and a jeep. One of the yankees from Wisconsin didn't understand why his AWD SUV was stuck and I wasn't. Had to explain to the snow expert the difference between AWD and 4X4 with differential lock. Do you go mudding up north baw?

Funny thing is I wasn't the only one picking people up. By 2am there was just piles of empty cars. Looks like they could use a few more good ole boys in NYC

Doesn't matter where you live, the first snow or ice of the year, you'll find people in the ditch. Usually 4wd vehicles. People forget their capabilities over the summer.
