Who is contracted to remove them and what's their relation to the mayor?

It's a huge deal, but Mitch will continue to lie, obfuscate and just generally confuse the situation. He admitted that NOFD was at the Battle of Liberty Place monument removal. But he said they were there because they are part of Homeland Security, and that was a Homeland Security operation. He also said no fire fighters were forced to be be there, nor did any volunteer. Now WTF does that mean?

Seeing photos of the first two removals and watching the live stream of the Beauregard removal, its obvious that these guys are complete and total amateurs at rigging and have a blatant disregard for safety regulations. Or maybe it's total ignorance, but in either case, it's completely ridiculous.

I hope nobody gets killed removing Lee, but Mitch deserves the fallout and repercussion if a fire fighter is injured or killed.

I believe the city bought a crane that they will say is a regular expense. They rented the forklifts. Firefighters and NOPD are the ones doing the rigging, while some random city employee is running the crane

But how does any of this wash with the "public bid"?

The RFP didn't include the Liberty Place monument. I think the budget for removing the three statues and the Davis and Beauregard pedestals, was $180,000 to $200,000. Mitch swore he had a private donor who would pay up to $250,000.

Cuzan (sp?) was the only responsive bidder, with a bid of $600,000. The city isn't obligated to accept a bid, especially at triple the budget. If Mitch hired another contractor and ignored Cuzan's bid, that's a problem. By using City employees, I guess Mitch thinks he's gaming the system. I just hope Ed Quatrevaux (N.O. Inspector General) and Rafael Goyeneche (Metropolitan Crime Commission) are watching and investigating this bullshite. This can't be legal.

Now he's saying he "thinks" they've spent "around $600,000" already. I guess that includes tactical gear for firemen. He's so full of shite his eyes ought to be brown.

An 800 pound chunk of stone is a matter for an agency responsible for the security of our nation?

Our tax dollars at work here folks.

Everyone has been keeping quiet about this for some reason. Nobody wanted to try and stop it

It's very concerning that local investigators seem to be ignoring this part of the fiasco.

There's a Wwltv and times picayune Facebook post about finding one of the statues in a car tow lot or junkyard of some type. Supposedly Mitch had said they were being stored in a warehouse and that doesn't appear to be the case.

If this is the case wouldn't HMS being either directly or indirectly involved mean that Mitch involved the FED Gov. with his statue removal project which is/was a city move?

That's all BS.
The dems that voted for him might believe that, but it's just another lie from Mitch.
