Honestly, the houses where a dad goes into arse beating mode quickly after mom gets told to “shut the hell up!!” The kids will probably turn out ok.
It is only funny because the mom and kid know there are boundaries and consequences for crossing them.
The sad cases are when kids tell that to their single mom and mom just takes it because the kid runs the house. Kids growing up in these households are the ones going to jail, failing out of school, and become unemployable adults.

Coming up, if I had said something like that my Mom would have whipped my arse. Then, when he got home from whichever shift he was working that day, Pops would have whipped my arse even worse.
She usually didn't let Pops do the whipping. That was reserved for when it was really needed.
