You said humor alone wouldn't do it.
No shite sherlock. Just like having big tits doesn't make a woman hot if the tits are attached to fat stomach, busted face, chicken legs and a flat arse.

I don't disagree. But saying humor is the #1 thing is just being dishonest. There are many characteristics that trumps humor. There evidence of this and evolutionary biologists will say the same thing.

Humor is a sign of general intelligence, and especially social intelligence. Those are rather important aspects of reproductive fitness.
Is humor the actual #1 most important thing? Probably not. A highly deformed but really funny guy is probably not going to get a ton of pussy. You need to look like a viable human who's actually capable of reproducing. But for "normal" people who lack visible defects, humor is a good way to distinguish yourself from others.
Like I said, there is plenty of evidence that shows the importance of humor in attracting women.

I think your missing the whole point here. Who's talking about arse or tits or legs? I was talking in terms of biology and evolution of mem and women.
Point is men and women are different and they have different approaches when it comes to sexual mating strategies.
Men(in general) want fertile looking women, wide hips. Women put on make ups for this very reason. Men are built this way. Men are not attracted to funny women. Ever hear any guy say Kathy Griffith is Hot? Men are not attracted to a women to can fix a car, cut the grass, etc. It's all about looks.
Women(in general) wants good looking healthy man so their offsprings can be healthy. They want a protector/provider for them and their kids. If he has humor, that is good too but it's not the main reason.

I can dig some of that.

Women put on makeup to give them wider hips?

quote:The evidence backs this up--women who make more attempts at humor at generally considered less attractive to men, but the negative effect is small. I read an article about this in The Atlantic a few months ago.

In another dating-style study in 1998, about 100 college students were shown photos of people of the opposite sex along with transcripts of interviews supposedly conducted with those individuals. In the interviews, the photo subjects came off as either funny or bland. For the women, a man’s use of humor in the interview increased his desirability. The women’s use of humor, meanwhile, didn’t make the men want to date them more—it actually made them slightly less alluring. That’s right: The men found the pretty, unfunny women more desirable than equally pretty ones who also happened to be funny.
I've dated women who described themselves as being funny, and they were usually not very funny.

It's pretty fun that you're taking a very anti-redpill stance while having Bill Clinton as your profile pic. Dude is almost the personification of its concepts.
I mean...hell, there was that SNL skit in which Darrell Hammond plays Clinton dressed up as "Mystery" from VH1's "The Pickup Artist" for a Halloween party.

I guess the premise would be that maybe at one point, Bill wasn't Bill and had to figure it all out. Red pill thinking is intended to accelerate and promulgate that process rather than having each person waste their time via trial and error.
Tbh, you're unfortunately more right than not. Perhaps not pretending, but most definitely aren't quite living the truths they espouse, yet.
I'm pretty good friends with one of the prominent bloggers in that community and know a few of the others through him, and yeah...even most of them are paper tigers. So we can assume that the readership probably is as well. Annoys the hell outta him, and he routinely calls them out on his blog/podcast/YouTube channel.
I've been to a few of the meetups he's gotten together when in town, and...always interesting people, but 50% are just sad/comical/stereotypical, 30% are otherwise legit but have some major flaw, and maybe 20% are on their game as human beings.

A lot of guys who read TRP and PUA stuff might do better going to therapy, where they can learn to be more self-confident, assertive, and understand how to communicate what they want, and understand what they want in the first place. Guys who try to learn "game" end up just acting the way they think they need to act to get laid. It is, deep down, dishonest and manipulative. Not just to whoever they're trying to frick, but to themselves, too.
Like I said, the parts of TRP that emphasize the importance of being confident in yourself, valuing yourself and your time, and communicating what you want and expect are all good. But that's not unique to TRP. And a lot of what TRP says about what men should be like, what women should be like, the psychology of the genders, etc. is just wrong and dumb.
TRP is right about some things, but wrong about so many others. My position is that there are better ways to improve yourself and to get what you want out of relationships. TRP can lead you down the wrong path.
And PUA is just laughable and sad.
edit: the consensus regarding Bill Clinton is that he was naturally charming and charismatic, even when he was very young.

Your position doesn't make sense. For whom am I knighting? How? By saying that many people on trp tend to project their inadequacies? By saying that people should take responsibility for their own issues instead of blaming others?
The truth is your response then and now is a cop out because you are too lazy or incompetent to make a thoughtful argument, and I should have ignored you. But oh well.

And to the funny guy thing, yeah, you can't look like a troll, be funny and get hot women. But be above average funny and average looking is going to get you way more women that being above average looks wise and being average funny.

Lets revisit your original post:
quote:
Much of what those people espouse is hateful and counter-productive.
quote:
It seems like they dehumanize women because they are spiteful that they can't be a worthless loser and still attract worthwhile women. Like they would want that out of a woman either. It's kind of pathetic.
That's how it seems to me at least.
For one yes you are white knighting. Two, this is an opinion, not an argument. I thought your opinion was unfounded and silly and that is why you got the response you got. You are the one grossly generalizing something you know little about, not me.
quote:
The truth is your response then and now is a cop out because you are too lazy or incompetent to make a thoughtful argument, and I should have ignored you. But oh well.
Again, you didnt make an argument, you stated a rather uninformed opinion. Trying to prove someone's opinion wrong, especially when it is an ignorant one, is an exercise in futility.
