Zee zee's is getting a few hundred thousand dollar update, renovation and possible addition of a back patio. Not sure what the new name will be or if it will be the same name. The building ownership will not change from Kevin Riley, just the business. The new owner/ operator of the business is early 30's guy from BR. He is a good guy, pretty smart I have confidence it will be a nice new addition to the area since zee zee's has been dying for years. As far as Chelsea's it's a combination of issues with the land lord not wanting to make Capitol repairs/ improvements that should be there responsibility and only doing 30 day lease for a while now. Owner of Chelsea's is partially calling landlords bluff, but best I can tell is really ready to get away from it and focus on the rental property business he has going, he bought 3 from me earlier this year to add to his portfolio and also focus on radio bar and the new beer garden

Maybe they should use money to update the menu and hire new cooks. Just a thought.

That's pretty much what I've heard... I know that Dave has put a ton of money Into Chelsea's and the building over the years. He wanted normal repairs and maintenance to such things as the roof and kitchen that the landlords have balked at doing over the years.. He apparently lost his main cook a few months ago and it doesn't seem the he has cared to put the effort back into everything with the uncertainty, can't say I blame him one bit.

Depends on the lease FWIW. I'm only saying this because I had a tenant signed a lease agreeing to take care of all mechanical maintenance with the space yet every time something broke, the moron called me to fix it.

What? No, that area is nicer than it's ever been. New developments along Perkins, high property values, easily accessible location.

Rent goes up on Perkins, and the current bar owners shift to focusing on Government. Eventually the same thing will happen there.

I wouldn't be upset if Bud's Broiler opened in BR.

I have never heard of a lease where mechanical maintenance also included structural maintenance. Which was the case with the Chelsea's building. As far as I know the A/c, heater, and plumbing were all in working order. Either way, the dude that owns the building is a first class dork and a pain in the arse.

the roof was leaking bad tuesday night at chelsea's. shitty landlord. rumor is that dave is going to open another chelsea's at some point after the beer garden in mid city is up and running. of course he could also just call the beer garden place "chelsea's" too...

There's a lot of irrational hatred towards two mediocre bars in this thread
