So the media is blowing their load on this hurricane

Watching the weather channel and it makes me wonder.. how real/fake is the information they are giving us?
Why is it when I watch the national news it’s about desantis sucks
When I watch local news it appears desantis is doing all the right things
I know this is a major bad storm but in the back of my head I wonder how much they are reporting is exaggerated to get eyeballs watching or how much is real?
Also on the weather channel, they have a commercial break like every 8 fricking minutes. Is it a case of keeping viewers interested long enough to cram in all of These commercials for more CPM?
I just don’t know what to believe these days.
The weather channel is loving this because they can continuously say “Everybody in the state of Florida is going to die so keep watching and we will let you know soon if you will be the one!!!!” - at least that’s what it sounds like watching this shite.
Before all of the downvotes - yes, I know this is a bad storm. YES, I know there is going to be destruction. Yes, I know some people will die. yes, I know there will be power outages. I get that it’s bad… but is it really going to be that bad for the entire state of florida?
It’s pretty sad that I have to think this about the media.

The weather channel is very left leaning and I watch it because for the most part the stay out of politics. But it creeps in from time to time. If you let yourself be consumed by the sensationalist mentality then you won’t like it. If you watch it for Dr Nabb and Postel

Storm surge is going to cause destruction. If they don’t tell people how bad it’s going to be then some will stay and either drown or need to be rescued. Then there will be outcry that no one warned them.
The last thing anyone needs to be doing is rescuing a bunch of people in dangerous conditions. It’s better to go worst case (which may very well be the case here) and have people evacuate.

I don't think I've watched the weather channel for a hurricane since maybe Andrew, that channel is completely worthless

Yes and I did say that I know it’s bad. I specifically stated this a few times in my post. I get it!!!!
But it reminds me of when hurricane Michael hit Mexico beach, I lived approx 53 miles away from direct impact and the weather channel looked exactly like this picture - it looked like it was going to crush us and we got a little wind and rain - didn’t lose power or anything.. was basically a thunderstorm.
Yes, hurricane Michael was awful.. it destroyed Panama City and Mexico Beach but even though it appeared we were going to get destroyed 50 miles away - we didn’t.
The computer model hurricane image they kept showing had my area in dark purple and it was nothing more than an afternoon storm.. that’s kind of my point of my post

I was in Miramar beach/ Santa Rosa beach line and it basically felt like a thunderstorm
Judging from this picture they kept showing non stop.. I thought we were going to get crushed
