Apparently some of those folks are referring to her as a derogatory name in group texts on a work phone.

As I said in another thread, grow some thick skin. Stop crying or get a different job.

You are in for a shitty married life if it is starting out like this.

1. hr or supervisor or union steward, depending on organization.
2. If you share the word or phrase we could fine tune our response.

Definitely do not be the person who asks her to reflect on why this is happening if you ever want sex again with her.

Does the OP really strike you as someone who can handle business with just their fists?

I would do nothing at all but I would keep all evidence for future use with supervisor. If it continues to happen repeatedly then I would present the evidence. In the meantime, Tell her to be nice to the perp and these comments will disappear. BTW, is your fiancé a snowflake?

A couple of good pieces of advice in the thread, surprisingly. The best is to wear something with a T-Rex on it or have a bag or something like that. It turns it into a joke and it lets the offender know you know without making a big deal about it. The more she doesn’t react once they know she knows, the quicker this will go away.

Also- Hospital folks are a tough crowd. They are tough and hard on the outside. But under that hard exterior is a whole lot of crazy for some of them. What I’m about to say may sound (and could be) sexist but I think it is also the truth. Hospitals are female dominated workplaces, as far as the staff goes. Doctors are a different group and aren’t part of the “regular” staff that’s always working together. All those women working together make for some drama filled environments. Unfortunately the men working there get sucked into it as well (or are the type of guy who naturally feeds into it). So the best advice I can give your fiancée is that she needs to learn how to live with a tough environment. The best way to do that is to develop coping and interpersonal skills to be able to breeze past situations like these.

And to your original question- what do you do? Nothing. You listen to her and maybe suggest turning the situation around by wearing a t-Rex shirt or hot or something. Other jab that, you keep your mouth shut and listen and nod. Maybe hug her and tell her you’re sorry she is experiencing this. Anything more and you are setting yourself up for a world of hurt.

Why do you keep suggesting this bizarre behavior?

It doesn't matter if she is new. One of the roles of the supervisor is to promote a non-hostile work environment for their employees. Tell her if she isn't comfortable with going to her supervisor, to go to her department's human resources, and they will investigate it.

We don't know your fiance we don't know the employees we don't know what was said we don't know anything.

On the surface it sounds like you have scuse me she has a bad working culture.

I've been in these situations before where you feel like you're an outsider and everybody's talking about you and so it's not going to end well so just tell her to get out of there but that's going to have to be her conviction not yours

Tell her to get the frick over it and handle her shite. Just yesterday I was called a suckass, an a-hole, a dumbass, and a dickhead. You wanna REALLY get fricked with? Go complain to HR about people saying mean things about you. Everybody will know who called, and everybody will legitimately hate her instead of just talking a little shite about her behind her back.

You don’t sound particularly motivated to go whip anybody’s arse. Post a picture of your wife and your knuckles.

Acceptable work environments/ cultures vary greatly depending on the job. When I was in the Army (combat arms mos- all male unit) the shite talking is tolerated.

The rules are different in a civilian, professional mixed gender/ race/ religion, (etc.) jobs.

Yea, definitely do that

If she’s legitimately bothered by shite like that, take your ring back and run for your life.

Honestly, the person who showed her the text is the one who needs their arse beat.

Snitches get stitches.

Also, who gives a shite what people are saying about you in a fricking text to other people?

She feels like she doesn't fit in. I told her you can't run from a job because two or three assholes work there.

It doesn't help these people at hospitals act like complete bitches. There can't me a more immature work force.

Go work as a hand for an industrial contractor for a month and report back.
