They’ve “been in the process” of widening that stretch since about 1992. I’m not going to count on it being completed in my lifetime.

Every time I go thru Beaumont it feels like it’s been under construction since I was a kid. Looonnnggg time ago now.

Sidenote, the U.S. has outgrown the two lane interstate. Make it normal to be 3 lanes and have your 18 wheelers have to stay in the far right lane except to pass where they can only use the middle to do so.

This is how the Autobahn is in the part of Germany I'm in.

And texas drivers still block the left lane the whole time.

Seems like the speed limits are different for each lane.

Left lane - 60
Middle lanes - 75-80
Right lane - 90+

Dont even try to be courteous and move over after passing either.

Do you mean after they remove all of the orange barrels that have taken root in the concrete?

Should be 3 lanes from Houston to Jacksonville, at minimum.
Most interstates in the US need to be widened out, it helps cut down on congestion and road rage a lot.

It will be one day, but the traffic starts and Sulphur and ends past Beaumont. That whole stretcher construction is a.PITA.

I-10 west is 6 lanes to about 10 miles west of Sealy and almost finished 6 lanes to just before Columbus. There, the state is moving the 6 lanes to the south for a brand new Colorado River bridge and will be 6 lanes to the SH 71 Austin exit. So it will be 215 miles from there back to the Louisiana border of 6 plus lanes highway

People forget that I-10 eastbound has a one lane ramp in San Antonio too... I-10 comes in from the NW and merges with I-35 for a few miles west of downtown SA... as it gets to US 90, I-10 has a one lane exit ramp to go from southbound to eastbound. I've never seen traffic really back up much there.

It's already the law for all vehicles in Texas, at least, and none of the Tesla, work truck (2500) or women in Tahoes pay attention. 18 wheelers are 5% of the left lane problem.

Louisiana is dragging their arse on finishing the widening from the state line to Vinton

Not really.

Louisiana started this project maybe 4 years ago and kicked Texas into gear to finish the cluster around Orange, that has previously been under construction since the 1990's

So I give LA a pass here.

The reason both sides were "dragging arse" is this is a federal project, not a state one. The government prides itself on being a clusterfrick.

When will they start working on i10 from Iowa east? The Iowa bridge and exit ramps are just about completed. I think they’ll have to pull out some of that median cable fencing they installed in 2018 and 2019 in order to widen it.
