Good catch, I edited. This is why the peer review system is so essential in medical academia.

I take a cold towel fro ice water, lay it on my head.

Dark room, under the covers.

I catch migraines about 3 times a month.

been plagued with them since a teenager. here's my tried and true method:

> dark room. no light. no sound
> cold rag over my head
> pop 3 Aleve (whatever pain killer works best for you)
> hurt for 1-2 hours
> puke my brains out for 10 minutes
> take a 30 minute nap

And I'm fricking golden afterwards.
Just how it plays out for me. I can feel them bitches coming and when I do I leave work and go into full "Migraine Mode".

Look, I understand your concern but this isn't about us, it's about helping kige understand his terminal condition.

The important thing to keep in mind is the orientation and its affects on the head migraine. It's no coincidence that these never occur in the winter time or in certain climates/hemispheres.

If you can get hold of 100% O2, it does wonders for migraines and cluster headaches

Agree with the Excedrin migraine. Not supposed to take more than 2 of them per day but 3 pills taken with a coke will usually help to make it at least tolerable within an hour.

Some people like high doses of caffeine.

I have a Rx for rizatriptan. Works great if you catch headache early.

My condolences.

I'm sorry, man. Migraines can be rough.

For me, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I've learned how to manage stress and to not miss meals or sleep - those are my main triggers. The only things that help me get rid of one - unless I catch it early and knock it out with some ibuprofen - is throwing up or falling asleep. A cold washcloth on the face and back of the neck can help. And a cold, quiet, dark room.

Good luck.

If you can get a prescription go with a triptan like imitrex or relpax. Relpax works best for me. Do the whole cold rag dark room routine. Another thing you can try is a hot shower in a dark room. Sounds strange but it's all about giving your nerve receptors something else to act on plus my sinuses get congested when I get one and it helps clear it up. Caffeine and chocolate can help. Excedrin migraine. Other than that buckle up for a bad time until it passes.
