Word. You're cool in my mind, Bluegrass.

That’s the key word. None of that is actually happening anymore. This whole “movement” is based on nothing yet leads to divisiveness.

Was there a particular reason this couldn’t go in any of the other 20 Nike threads?

Nike supporting the face of the kneeling against the flag campaign because the USA oppresses blacks and civil rights.
Or we can take this out of the far right spin cycle and say what it actually is:
quote:
Nike supporting a us citizen exercising his right to free speech via peaceful protest to bring awareness to an issue he feels is important
Quite literally one of the most American things one could do. CK didn’t commit any crimes...so why would the Olympic Committee split with Nike over this? Are you capable of any sort of critical and/or logical thinking?

If you aren’t a minority, you have absolutely 0 basis with which to make that statement.

the most american thing to do is praise and shove down the throats of american citizens of kneeling against our country because they oppress blacks and their civil rights?
yeah, what an american hero he is.

pretty small minded approach.

uh, who is associated more with the national anthem? The military and American institutions (that play it at events, or as part of their daily routine), or the police (who never play it before, during, or at the end of a shift)?
So the act of choosing the anthem as the protest opportunity is the fault of a clearly illiterate protestor. I have no intention of giving them a pass, just because they are that close to retardation.
Let them find a more reasonable connection to lodge their protesr

No. Exercising your constitutional rights. In case you forgot, constitutional rights are the rights that conservatives cling to any time guns are brought into a discussion. Can’t have it both ways.

Ask Target and Dicks Sporting Goods how they are enjoying their constitutional rights

I’m just curious. how much longer are minorities going to be oppressed post Civil Rights era? Can you provide me an example in 2018 of an oppression specific to minorities and not poor people in general.
3 downvotes. Not a single honest response

we can still disagree on what "injustices" they are kneeling for. There is still opinions to be formed when they take a stand against our country's flag in protest. i'm not trying to deny Kaep his constitutional rights unlike politicians against guns. see the difference? no i bet you don't.

A specific example of oppression is very vague, which is why you likely haven’t gotten a specific response.
Oppression is defined as “prolonged cruel or unjust treatment”. Racism is a form of oppression and racism absolutely runs rampant even post civil rights era, to deny that is ignorant. Because you’re (likely) white and don’t see racism, doesn’t mean it’s non-existent. Does the kneeling directly and actively affect you in your daily life? I know it doesn’t affect me...which is why I don’t care. If he wants to protest peacefully, what’s the issue?

I’ll first start by saying. You responded to my so called vague question with a vague answer.
Okay, fine. I will gladly admit that I as a white man in this country, walk a different path than the average African American male. But can you give me an instance of where this said oppression/racism effects your life, in 2018, other than possibly hurting your feelings?
And i could also make the argument that my life is as "privileged" as it is compared to the average african american or poor white people, primarily because my father stayed out of trouble, worked hard, provided for his family at all costs, and gave his children a better opportunity than he had while teaching them the importance of doing so.
so did his father.
so did his grandfather.
so did his great grandfather.
see where i'm going with this? none of that have anything to do with my skin color. i could just as easily be some poor hillbilly living in a trailer in south Mississippi. but thanks to the men before me, i wasn't.
I don't care about the act of kneeling or protesting itself. That is his right as an American. Provided to him by the lives of many (although, less selfish and more self-aware) men who fought and died for that same flag and anthem. I've always asked: what is the underlying purpose of his protest? what does he hope to accomplish by protesting?
is it the false narrative that police target African Americans? Because there is an endless amount of statistical data that proves otherwise. Even if this his cause, how is the manner he is protesting going to promote a solution?
